SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION TRASHES PRINT PUBLICATIONS ON LOCAL NEWSTANDS!!!

Hidden in the fine print of local mandates on coronavirus prevention is very questionable guidance on the printed word.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS SHOW US LOCAL PRINT MAGS TRASHED AMID COVID-19 PREVENTION EFFORTS!!!

Even in restaurants, those old, nasty laminated menus are a thing of the past as new rules advise "single-use, disposable menus, and access to online menu on mobile devices."

The good news is that MOST of this info was available last month online . . . However, this leaves many independent publishers in a tough place given that handouts and well placed publications are part of their distribution model.

Unlike the daily corporate newspaper, indie publishers offer content that's tough to find anywhere else and the Internets no longer has the same kind of egalitarian freedom of information in a world of rigged social media algorithms and politically charged platform take downs.

Moreover, limiting any kind of speech and 1st Amendment rights over public health concerns should be met with skepticism and critical questions.

It truly is a slippery slope when quality toilet reading must be sacrificed to protect the nation from a pandemic by way of precautions that might or might not be scientifically sound.

Here's the word . . .

"The scary thing about the new rules is that print magazines will probably be banned from salons, medical waiting rooms, bars, and restaurants. They want no paper inside places. Even restaurants will have to have to throw away paper menus, no more laminated menus. They are telling restaurants to use one-time-use paper menus that can be thrown away or access their menus on their cell phones . . .

"Here's a photo from a grocery store near Noland Road that I took tonight. Obviously, people did not buy out every magazine. The store had to dump them. I took this photo around 8:30 p.m. tonight. Not good news for publishers who need distribution in bars, coffee shops, libraries, restaurants, universities and more."

  1. I guess they didn't need all of the wedding magazines this year. Those are what are on most super market shelves. Along with the trash novels.

      I hope they recycled.

    2. Probably.

Probably the same way that the mainstream news is recycling so much footage and bad news without mixing in any kind of balance or differing opinions.

  2. Always wonder how magazines made it nowadays anyway.

  3. Absolutely agree about those lamated menus. Even before the pandemic those things were filthy bacteria traps. Hope that custom sticks around.

  4. Rex archer is an old out of touch idiot, why didn’t he shut down the toy train? Is he going to ban books next? How bout clothes? Cars? Drinks? Everything could have the Chinese red death virus on it. This guy is a paranoid old fool.

  6. Kc and the surrounding SEVEN COUNTIES have 36 total deaths. That’s any county touching Jackson county. An example is Johnson county that includes warrensburg to give you a size comparison. We’re talking about a very large area here people compared to a small area surrounding St. Louis. There have been a total of seven new deaths since April 22nd. Kc has 16 total, Jackson co. has 12. Out of all the confirmed cases the health dept. refuses to release the total number of recovered people, why is that? Fear tactics that’s why, archer and Lucas are playing a game to make them look like hero’s and it’s not working one bit,

Maybe monkey paw it with Corona Virus and then expect others to buy it. Drool of the retards seeking culture and free cheese fucks that use shit instead of buy it.

  13. I’m guessing this also means the commie red star can’t print the paper anymore? That would be ok with me!

  15. The laminated menus have always been gross as the waitresses did not wipe them down like they used to years ago.

Leftover food, fingerprints etc full of cold and flu germs.

A electronic menu on the wall at each table would be much safer.

  16. Or maybe we'll just be like San Francisco and s*** on the street

  18. Maybe the Star should print only a couple of days a week and then be online in between.

They're now in some ways better off than magazines.

Magazines are by definition less timely and less truly essential.

Reading public copy magazines, such as in doctors's offices, has always been dubious.
