REDUX: WESTPORT HATES 'URBAN' CLUBS

Expect the the newspaper to "report" on this in a few months but KCMO has confronted this debate consistnetly since the late 80s.

Party districts have struggled with old school conceptions of "diversity" while the rest of the world has moved beyond this antiquated world view and simply discriminates against low income patrons of every sort like the rest of the world.

Throwback KC, Westport Business League point fingers over security

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police officers patrolled parking lots Friday night in Westport, where private security officers also patrolled on foot in the entertainment district less than a week after a deadly shooting on Mill Street. The shooting, which killed 17-year-old Devin Harris and left four others injured, happened several minutes after a fight broke out inside Throwback KC at 510 Westport Road.

  1. Quinton says he will do whatever he has to do people won’t get shot at Westport, but he is lying. Stop and frisk? It would help, but he won’t do it.

    1. 1. Police can already stop and frisk if they have probable cause. KCPD unfortunately has dumb downed their officers to the point that the normal officer just takes a report and moves on to the next call with no investigation.

      2. Stop and frisk works well in those areas like New York with high pedestrian traffic but not in KC. In the last two mass club shootings, guns were left in cars and retrieved after an incident.

  2. Who owns the building that Throwback is in. Why did they rent it to another urban club? Their value of that property would go down when an incident like this would happen. Tell us who the owner of the property is who would continue to rent to troubled operations. And why would westport let them come in. Lots of questions. Westport was once a friendly peacful and fun place to party. What have they let happen to this area? The real culprits have to be landlords of that building with the history of troubled bar in that location.

    1. Clubs are not the problem it’s what happens after someone is thrown out or after closing. This is the responsibility of Westport security and police. They are failing to do their jobs.

1 Arrowhead Stadium has fights and drunks each game. They’ve had people killed in the parking lot. Where’s the outrage here?

      2. Power and Light has had shootings in parking garages and on corners. Where is the outrage here?

    2. Black people can't be normal ever? Do hear your self? Look at history, white people can never be trusted at all! You guys place everyone in total fear at shopping malls, grocery stores, religious gatherings, community centers, schools and at work. If you guys aren't committing mass shootings, then you guys try to find other means of carrying out mass killings, like Timothy McVeigh. Don't act like white people don't do anything wrong because you guys are the mentally deranged general.

  4. No, people hate potentially being shot just because they're out having a good time. People hate that black people have room temperature IQ and cognitive resolution abilities of a starving alligator. Their first, second, and third instinct is to use a gun for every situation. Show me a black club that doesn't have violence. Like Chris Rock says about black clubs, "grand opening, grand closing." You cannot dispute one and only one, group of people is responsible for all the violence in Westport and 98% of the violence in KC in general. Let us not forget the names of Harry Stone, Jonathan Porter and Jeffery McDonald, murdered in broad daylight in black-on-white hate crimes. All three murders remain unsolved.

  5. Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.

  9. The only people that refuse to be honest about the FACT that blacks are the root of the vast majority of KC crime are those that think they’re “enlightened” about diversity. However, in this case, being enlightened is the equivalent of being in denial. There are good and decent black people out there, but they don’t hang out in Westport. I feel sorry for them because I’m sure it has to suck knowing that the majority of their people are a mess.

  10. I once dated a black girl. She would NEVER want to visit any club where over 75% of the patrons were black. She would always say, "I'm sorry, but you know how my people are." Not racist. Not hating. Just reality.

  11. Great Blame game. Flat ass the only one responsible is the person that chose to take a Weapon and fire it. Ditto if it would have been a knifing, baseball bat or ran the kid over with his SUV.
