TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! AMERICAN CENTURY DEMANDS MILLIONS IN TAX BREAKS FROM KANSAS CITY FOR RENOVATION NEAR THE PLAZA!!!
Quick message sent your way and justifiably stolen from a Chinese social media scam . . .
"American Century is planning an $86.4M renovation of its headquarters complex at 4500 Main; seeking city revenue bond w 50 percent, 10-year personal property tax abatement; retaining 1,022 jobs, adding 74."
Translation . . .
DESPITE THE TRUMP ECONOMIC BOOM THIS EPIC STOCK BIZ DEMANDS HUGE KANSAS CITY TAXPAYER SUBSIDY!!!
This has actually been out on the city website for a couple of days . . .
Ordinance 190991: Approving an Industrial Development Plan for American Century Services, LLC, for the purpose of making renovations/leasehold improvements to the commercial buildings located at 4400 and 4500 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, and for the purchase of machinery and fixtures; authorizing and approving various agreements for the purpose of setting forth covenants, agreements and obligations of the City and American Century Services, LLC; authorizing the issuance of taxable industrial revenue bonds in a maximum aggregate principal amount not to exceed $86,338,000.00; authorizing and approving certain other documents; and authorizing certain other actions in connection with the issuance of said bonds.
Developing . . .
Totally worth it. Given that the return on their funds is garbage.
ReplyDelete^^^ So you mean that Kansas City isn't going to get their money back either? Sounds like a great deal.
DeleteAbsolutely certain council will hand it right over.
DeleteSure why not every other large corporation gets free no strings attached handouts from the city so why wouldn't American Century not want some freebies for themselves?
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when the paying taxpayers who are forced to pay can no longer keep the freebie well full?
Like Byron's family,they leave.
DeleteThey take it out of non-resident income tax.
DeleteProblem is they can just move to JOCO and get better tax breaks there than in KCMO. It's smart business
ReplyDeleteKatheryn Shields. The queen of giveaways!
ReplyDeleteWhy should we pay bills for a mutual fund company valued at BILLIONS?
ReplyDeleteAs long as you live in this ghetto laden shithole you will pay
DeleteDear LLC, please go fuck yourselves.
ReplyDeleteLETS GO TO WORK AND GET SHOT
ReplyDeleteThey also own most of the adjacent properties as well. This is worse than welfare. It seems like extortion to anyone who really knows how this deal came about.
ReplyDeleteWhich you no doubt have all sorts of EXCLUSIVE INSIDER DEETS about, right shitheel?
DeleteGrow up and stop having relations with your mother. Your brother wants a turn.
DeleteAh American Centuries property taxes doubled this year so why not go for being exempt from paying them for ten years and let the homeowners pay the bills until they can finalize their exit strategy to JoCo and leave Grandma Millie holding the bag.
ReplyDeleteNeat strategy.
How much are their company officers paid?
ReplyDeleteWhat cities do they live in?
Did Shields get a big healthy bribe or a threat to leave?
ReplyDeleteFrank White is to blame. Literally raised everyone's taxes. I'll always side with a corporation over the KCMO or County government but there's a lot of retards on this site who don't understand why anyone would fight against a corrupt municipality
ReplyDeleteGive 'em the money. The buildings look cool.
ReplyDeleteI say don't give them their tax breaks, and when they move out, we can use the building to house some of the homeless for a few years, then raze the buildings and establish and MLK pocket park for graffiti.
ReplyDeleteIn 2008, hundreds of local Kansas City citizens lost huge amounts of their 401k accounts that were mandated by law, to be invested in American Centuries "TARGET DATE RETIREMENT FUNDS". It was the default option for many 401K plans. They look at your current age, when you will be 65, then stick you in a risky fund based just on your age, not based on whether the market is too high overall. Give them NO maoney. In 2010 the law was changed by Congress as it was realized to be foolish and profitable only for the mutual fund industry
ReplyDeleteSo you are saying Obama parted the seas?

ReplyDeleteVictor Zhang is senior vice president and chief investment officer for American Century Investments
He doesn't live in KCMO. I guess either Leawood or Hong Kong?
5:33
ReplyDeleteZhang lives in California
^^^ San Marino. One of the wealthiest communities in the country.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Stuart Thomas President/CEO at American Century... One of KCMO's "most powerful people" asking City Council for free money?
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha
TOP PHOTO -- STOWERING INFERNO
ReplyDeleteWith the KCMO Council teaching every corporation in town not to build anything bigger than a salad, without asking for tax breaks, the mutual destruction of both parties integrity is assured!!!
American Century is the lamest of the mutual fund companies. They've lost a lot of money for clients over the years. I've sure the CEO, President and other top execs can take a paycut to fund anything they want to do.
