  1. Totally worth it. Given that the return on their funds is garbage.

    1. ^^^ So you mean that Kansas City isn't going to get their money back either? Sounds like a great deal.

    2. Absolutely certain council will hand it right over.

  2. Sure why not every other large corporation gets free no strings attached handouts from the city so why wouldn't American Century not want some freebies for themselves?

What happens when the paying taxpayers who are forced to pay can no longer keep the freebie well full?

  3. Problem is they can just move to JOCO and get better tax breaks there than in KCMO. It's smart business

  9. Ah American Centuries property taxes doubled this year so why not go for being exempt from paying them for ten years and let the homeowners pay the bills until they can finalize their exit strategy to JoCo and leave Grandma Millie holding the bag.

    Neat strategy.

  10. How much are their company officers paid?
What cities do they live in?

  12. Frank White is to blame. Literally raised everyone's taxes. I'll always side with a corporation over the KCMO or County government but there's a lot of retards on this site who don't understand why anyone would fight against a corrupt municipality

  13. Give 'em the money. The buildings look cool.

  14. I say don't give them their tax breaks, and when they move out, we can use the building to house some of the homeless for a few years, then raze the buildings and establish and MLK pocket park for graffiti.

  15. In 2008, hundreds of local Kansas City citizens lost huge amounts of their 401k accounts that were mandated by law, to be invested in American Centuries "TARGET DATE RETIREMENT FUNDS". It was the default option for many 401K plans. They look at your current age, when you will be 65, then stick you in a risky fund based just on your age, not based on whether the market is too high overall. Give them NO maoney. In 2010 the law was changed by Congress as it was realized to be foolish and profitable only for the mutual fund industry

  19. Jonathan Stuart Thomas President/CEO at American Century... One of KCMO's "most powerful people" asking City Council for free money?

    Hahahahaha

  20. TOP PHOTO -- STOWERING INFERNO

With the KCMO Council teaching every corporation in town not to build anything bigger than a salad, without asking for tax breaks, the mutual destruction of both parties integrity is assured!!!

  21. American Century is the lamest of the mutual fund companies. They've lost a lot of money for clients over the years. I've sure the CEO, President and other top execs can take a paycut to fund anything they want to do.
