KANSAS CITY WORKHOUSE CASTLE RENOVATION IS FAKE NEWS!!!

Every couple of years we have to fact check hype and desperate hope for the restoration of the Kansas City Workhouse Castle.

During urban exploring adventures, many locals simply can't believe that such a historic, beautiful structure is allowed to remain in ruins. What they don't know is that the building along 21st & Vine is only a stone's throw away from a district that already burned through more than $100-MILLION in KC taxpayer cash without the hint of profitability for the last 30 years.

In 2018 there was yet another round of hype for this effort that never materialized.

Local do-gooders want to rebuild it as a youth center, dance hall, creative space, urban garden or any number of schemes. Sadly, KC dreamers always start out with big plans BUT NO MONEY to fulfill promises.

And so the talk eventually evaporates and the ruins remain mostly untouched.

Developing . . .

  1. Actually, MOST of the hyped announcements about "economic development" in KCMO involve big big dreams and no money.
Or mostly even looking to use someone else's money.
Mostly the beleaguered KCMO taxpayers' money.
In a city government that makes believe it would seriously consider a $350 million bicycle plan or announces free bus service without taking the time to budget the at least $8 million required, you really can't count a harebrained scheme like this dead.
    Ever!
NONE of the suggested uses for the building would generate anywhere near the money to operate it, but that won't matter either.
    Momentum!

      "Emough"???

Sorry there superior boy but you're going to have to learn how to spell before you can claim to be better than anyone. Go back to your trailer park and STUDY! Maybe one day you can improve yourself.

    2. A trailer park is orders of magnitude safer than a ghetto.

  3. ^^^^^^

KC Black Lawyer.....Typographical error ever heard of it? Apparently not so why don't you give 6:15 a break and stop acting like you are out of the trailer park!
As far as this building goes it doesn't have any benefits other than a homeless shelter "and there are plenty who live in that building" and also a place for black thugs to practice their gang slang on the stone. Kinda like...well you know they have to mark their territory. So it won't get renovated it serves a great purpose already.

  6. This building would be very useful in the fake 18th and vine district. Those stone walls should stop a lot of bullets!

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the many great contributions of the black community and their culture to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the influx of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nurturing of these communities, as an example of all they have achieved by their enthusiasm for self-improvement through hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.

  9. 8:22, I'm glad someone gets it. The African culture is one of wonderment and creativity. From poetry and arts to scientific inventions it's contribution to our society is inestimable.
