Per ushe, this morning we're sharing a bevy of news links on a great many local items amid a national debate over the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
The juxtaposition is important not only as a testament to local life going on despite Beltway drama but also given that so many KC news watchers are happy to sweat every last detail of this D.C. saga but don't really know what's happening in their own backyard.
Accordingly . . .
KANSAS CITY'S POTHOLE PROBZ SHOULD REMIND US NOT TO PUT TOO MUCH FAITH IN POLITICOS & THEIR PROMISES!!!
And so, here's the impeachment rundown with a few worthwhile local news links in the mix to remind us all that Fox & Friends aren't your friends and neither Anderson Cooper nor Jake Tapper would give you the time of day . . .

Impeachment Motives
Founders: Removal from office is not the only purpose of impeachment
As Congress considers formal charges of impeachment against President Donald Trump, they should consider words spoken at the Constitutional Convention, when the Founders explained that impeachment was intended to have many important purposes, not just removing a president from office. A critical debate took place on July 20, 1787, which resulted in adding the impeachment [...]
Pres Trumps Considers History
Trump 'going crazy over' impeachment legacy
"Donald Trump understands the same thing as the progressive left - his presidency is transformative and historic," said Steve Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist. "He also understands that his opponents have even more hatred for him than Nixon and Clinton's had for them.
You decide . . .
Impeachment is going to be a tradition from now on. The Republicans will do it to the next democratic president. It's not a running gag.
ReplyDeleteToday is historic that it might have got Trump his second term.
Delete^^^ Don't count on it. That second to last link says it all. The Presidency has been tarnished. People aren't going to want to vote for damaged goods.
DeleteImpeachment is all well and good but the Democratic Party should have focused on better candidates. As it stands now, none of them could beat the President even considering today's impeachment.
ReplyDelete^^^ +100
DeleteGive the new mayor some credit. Potholes are still a problem, but they're being addressed. Sly didn't give a shit about any potholes south of 31st Street.
ReplyDelete2 dollar gasoline, 401k up 20+%, Unemployment all time low. Trumps version of Hope and Change. Got to love it. MAGA
ReplyDelete6:51 talk about damaged goods, you guys are praying that Hillary runs again, you’d vote for her despite everything she and slick Willy have done, so much for the #metoo movement huh sucka’s!
ReplyDeleteHilly is 100 times worse than President Trump could evar be, truth hurts hurts dummy, get used to it.
I can’t wait to see all the crying when the senate votes this clown show down, the media and the dimwits will be crying again just like when Trump beat that stupid lyin crooked lesbo oh, what was her name again! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteThis solemn holiday may be the Democrat Party’s last chance to avoid suicide. They need to have a conversation with someone on the cosmic hotline, come to the realization that they’ve truly hit bottom now and must, as Rep Devin Nunes suggested Sunday to his colleague Adam Schiff, sign into rehab.
ReplyDeleteAs ever, Jim
Do Dems not have 401k's? This president is making YOU money. Who doesn't want that?
ReplyDelete^^^ They cashed in the 401's and blew the cash at Jeff Epstein's fantasy island.
ReplyDeleteReason magazine, hardly a left-wing rag, reports Jonah Goldberg, a conservative, tweeted Trump's letter to Nancy Pelosi was "a pristine example of how Trump himself is patient zero of Trump Derangement Syndrome."
ReplyDeleteAnd?
Delete.......SHEP SMITH IN 2020!!!
ReplyDeleteReason Magazine is libertarian. Goldberg is right that Trump spends too much energy responding to unimportant slights. Impeachment is not an unimportant slight. It is right and appropriate that he should be passionate about the historic wrong the Democratic House majority is committing.
ReplyDelete1 of 3, C'mon Trump, put down the phone and quit ranting like a toddler on twitter and take a bow. You're about to be tarnished.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, schmuck.
Kansas City is a democRAT ran town. Just take one hrad look around you and you'll see why that clown show has to end. It's the same clown show in Washington that is trying to unseat the current President.
ReplyDeleteNow do you see why the democRATS are so bad to have in office?
It will go down in history more as an illustration of partisan division than any reflection on Trump. After all, the IG report is so damning about the weaponized anti-Trump FBI that wide reform will be have to be implemented. The FISA court itself has issued very damning, very true statements about the illegal conduct of the personnel involved. It's directly relevant to the joke impeachment because Adam Schiff, John Brennan, and others are now clearly seen to have lied about nearly everything. It's going to be the impeachment with an asterisk, and will soon be followed by criminal indictments for many in that same weaponized FBI. People actually charged with crimes and going to jail will end up being a much bigger story when Durham's investigation is done.
ReplyDeletePelosi bet and bet big that the impeachment 'story' would have legs. She tried to unify her disintegrating party by doubling and tripling down on what the wokesters insisted on. Now after this impotent impeachment circus, there will be a very high price to pay for Dems who supported it come November.
Is the "dude, weird" guy still doing damage control?
ReplyDelete“The main thing that has held America together for so long in the past was common Ideals. Equality and opportunity. Democratic government. The Constitution. Without them, America is just another multiethnic Empire, just a bunch of tribes. In the past decades, economic chaos and income inequality have created scarcity and hardship. For many, America has stopped delivering on its Ideals. Instead of solving these problems, we have retreated into tribalism.
ReplyDeleteFed by alternate news sources, we end up living in divergent realities and different stories, with competing ideas of what America is about. Trump’s election is a symptom, not the disease. At least two Americas exist, maybe more. Maybe many more. This conflict may end, but we may never come together again unless we rediscover those unifying ideas of what America is. “
(Our War, Craig di Louie)
Tribalism is more and more evident every day.
The outcome of this Election will be decided along purely tribal lines, and so far nobody shows any ability to restore America.
10:13...he is trying to. Weird.
ReplyDeleteForget impeachment its a waste of time. The citizens of the USA should make a list of "to do" items for each President (and congress) they MUST fix during their terms. A list of our choice. Example : fix social security, bring down college costs, stop fighting other countries wars for them, disband NASA, fix medical insurance costs, build 100 more prisons and throw away the keys on offenders, stop school bullys by placing them in juvenile prisons, disallow the religious exemption for the abusive catholic church - rule it a sex cult, develop a universal flu vaccine before 1/3 of the USA is wiped out by a new superflu.
ReplyDeleteNope, Catholics aren't paying taxes and aren't getting labeled as pervs, because of the sins of a very fractional minority. The Islamists who are little boy rapers, wife beaters, little girl clit clippers, homo homiciders, Jews and Christians killers are more numerous! Many decades of witnesses to these muslim evils--victims, refugees, noble missionaries, good military personnel, and EVEN, confessed PERPS--but, the IDJIT HATERS PUT EXCESS FUBAR FOCUS ON THE CATHOLIC CHURCHES!!!
Delete^^^ Good job,@10:51, but you forgot to include Mormonism and Scientology in your list.
ReplyDelete11:23 100% correct sir!
ReplyDeleteTwo things that will nevar happen is the potholes will nevar be fixed and President Trump won’t be impeached, you can take that to the bank bitches!
Wish libs understood how much us conservatives are enjoying this whole thing. It's so entertaining.
ReplyDelete@11:34 He will be Impeached, that's the equivalent of having "chargesfiled", but the GOP Senate Trial won't allow him to be convicted and removed.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's EXACTLY what the Democrats want!
That puts the stain and stench that Trump has generated on EVERY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE for any elective Office next November.
Project Redmap may yet be able to barely squeak out another win for the Presidency, but that will leave Trump facing four years of a Democratically controlled Congress (both Houses), massive redistricting at State levels, and a Presidency rivaling that of Chester A. Arthur for ineffectiveness.
Oh, Chimpy/11:56, your rant is the Chester fail! Bumbling, stumbling, crumbling socialists and psychos of the DemoCRUM party are increasingly causing Blexit by the minute. In JaxCo, and too many other DemoCRIM-run (into the ground) murder momentum and tax troubled districts, BLEXIT is growing by the minute. Now, back to your silly banana hiding game.
Delete^^^ Hide a Banana up your ass, Chimparino, unlike your usual target I've never had a problem mixing it up with a Gutless Bully, whether your Beloved Leader or a cheap-assed little lickspittle imitation like you!
ReplyDeleteSo bring it on!
"Do you feel lucky, Punk?"
Wow. Gonna have to do better than this, Chimpy Jr! :)

People, as a rule, have no concept of the realities of human nature/perception. They usually view things only through their own prism, and are angry when the rest of the world disagrees with their take.
ReplyDeleteThe reality is this. The impeachment of Trump has been tainted by the revelations of the FBI's abuse of power with the FISA warrants. Like it or not (and this is the Democrats' fault, as they've linked the two things together for easier public consumption) people view the Mueller Report and impeachment as two sides of the same coin. Bad news for the Dems, as The FBI, and the report have been heavily discredited by both the IG and the FISA court. Shit will really hit the fan if the Durham Report is as bad as it sounds like it might be.
Only the left (and that includes the media) views impeachment as fully legit. The right sure as hell doesn't, and neither do a growing majority of independents. Those two groups will go for Trump in 2020 . . . largely because the Dems have painted themselves as surveillance freaks/1984-style authoritarians.
The Dems didn't learn how much they were hurt by their own hysterics during the Kavanaugh hearings. They're doing the same thing right now.
They also haven't learned that Trump is much better at branding (and trolling) than they are.
11:56: +1000 except Arthur accomplished civil service reform, so that makes him more effective than the great pumpkin.
ReplyDelete11:56 +1000 for your disconnected from reality diatribe.
ReplyDeleteYour guy is still a fat old slob in an ill fitting suit with a fake orange tan who spells like shit and writes like shit and bankrupt several businesses and paid civil damages for fraud and paid porn stars to fuck him and keep quiet. Now, he can add impeached to his illustrous shit stain of a resume.
MAGA indeed.
Does this babyish venting help you deal with the fact that he's getting reelected?
Delete
ReplyDeleteImpeached, but not removed. 4 more years!
K A G!
why are we blaming politicians for potholes? theyre not the the ones who did a shitty job building the roads and/or used shoddy materials
ReplyDelete2:21: I think you and 11:56 are on the same side.
ReplyDeleteJackson County addresses longstanding pay issues
ReplyDeleteJackson County legislators have taken a step toward higher starting rates for the county's lowest-paying jobs - $12.50 an hour in 2020.
versus
Troy Schulte's contract with Jackson County calls for $220,000 a year, to help Frank White do his job.
I thought Democrats were all about Social Justice reform, reducing income disparities, White Institutional Racism, etc.??
Awwww. Chimpy's fanboy puts in his two bananas' worth. Isn't that special?
ReplyDeleteIt is, yes. And there are three of us now I think? Anyway, I'm glad to see you are trying to count. When you can go higher than two let us know! Silly ape lol
DeleteWhere's chuck been lately? Is it true he died finally?
ReplyDeleteOh boy the Dems here are going to be upset!
ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department announced a crackdown Wednesday aimed at driving down violent crime in seven of the nation’s most violent cities.
Attorney General William Barr announced the initiative known as Operation Relentless Pursuit at a news conference in Detroit, Michigan, alongside the leaders of the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Marshals Service.
As part of the initiative, the Justice Department will intensify federal law enforcement resources in the seven cities — Detroit, Albuquerque, Baltimore, Cleveland, Kansas City, Memphis and Milwaukee — which have violent crime rates high above the national average.
3:50 piss off dumbass, why are you so jealous of the great and powerful chuck? He clearly is a better man than you will evar be so enough with your hateful rants already, Jesus Christ you are one sick dude.
ReplyDeleteThe one question I have for the dimwits and I know they won’t answer truthfully anyway but if President Trump’s presidency is tarnished because the dimwits impeached him does that mean you admit slick willy’s legacy Is tarnished too? Or does that only apply to republicans?
ReplyDeleteI know you dumbass dimwits want hilly to run again but with slick willy’s reputation tarnished so badly does that mean hilly won’t get your vote? I know you can’t honestly vote for her and allow billy back into the White House because you all have such high standards and all right?
^^^^You think there are three of you? Is that like multiple personality disorder or did you just watch "The Three Faces of Eve" once too often?
ReplyDeleteWow, really reaching on that reference, but ok. And Dissociative Identity Disorder (please try to keep current if you insist on using clinical language) is far, far beyond the portfolio of a chimp!
DeleteAt least three. What can I tell you? It caught on, which is kind of funny.
4:13: I hate to identify as a "dimwit," but of course slick willy's legacy was tarnished by his fooling around with an intern. How could it not be? Has anyone said otherwise?
ReplyDeleteAnd for that matter the same could be said for JFK. So how does this change anything about the great pumpkin?
And hell no, I don't want Hillary to run for anything ever again.
Any aid the US gives any country ALWAYS comes with strings attached.
ReplyDeleteWe want Democracy.
We need help fighting Communism.
We need help fighting Al- qida
We need help putting middles next to enemies
We need help fighting a corrupt VP Biden or his son
Nothing new here.
When will the fucking media do their job and investigate Hunter Biden and how a non-native-speaking ex-druggie could land a $50,000 a month job while their daddy was a VP ?
There is the foreign influence! And the fucking media helps out our enemies by giving them comfort and won’t investigate but instead sides with liberals... who threaten the US with false liberal talking points against a duly elected US president.
When will Adam Schiff be ID’d as an enemy of the president?
^^^Hahahahahaha - let me fix that last one for you "We need help in our election so I need you to just announce you're going to investigate Biden and his son, and then, just don't do it. The shit will be smeared. Can you do me that favor? Then I'll release your funds"
ReplyDeleteSome months later "Shit, the Post got a hold of the whistleblower story? Give Ukraine the funds so it doesn't look too bad."
Some weeks later "They got their funds, nothing to see here."
It was “do us a favor”
ReplyDeleteMonths of commenting here are proven wrong yet again.
ReplyDeleteDems are too scared to hold a House vote. They refuse to call a full House vote. They don't have the votes to pass it. Wrong, wrong, and wrong.
Impeachment has come to pass.
I wish impeachment actually overturned an election and negated 63 million votes.
ReplyDeleteThat would mean Hillary could be put in the White House now. Trump's executive orders would be immediately reversed. Trump's cronies would be kicked out of cabinet positions. All the judges appointed over the last 3 years would be swept out as invalid for new Clinton judges.
Oh, it doesn't work that way? Pence would be president and continue Trump's agenda? I guess impeachment isn't about overturning an election.
Sorry, winning 30 states doesn't put a president above the law. An electoral victory isn't a licence to commit crimes. Nixon won 49 of 50 states but still resigned in the face of impeachment.
ReplyDeleteA winning economy isn't immunity from impeachment. Clinton in the 1990s had the best job market in decades, set stock market records, and was balancing the federal budget. That didn't stop his impeachment.
Stick to the facts. Trump abused his power for personal gain and obstructed congress by ignoring subpoenas for witnesses and documents. Trump has earned his impeachment on the merits.
@4:55 - if you feel that strongly about it, then just don't vote for Hunter Biden for President in 2020!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help you with your problem.
Now, about Donald Trump Jr. admitting under oath that he met with Russian Agents during the campaign because they said they could supply him with "dirt" on Clinton...
Trump has early onset dementia, end.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, Trump can say he did something Obama could never do, get impeached. So, he's got that going for him.
ReplyDelete7:08, how naive of him. Everybody knows to get dirt on a political opponent from foreign sources, you hire a silk stocking law firm who hires a strategic intelligence firm who hires a former spy who pays foreign sources for that information. When you do it that way and it later unravels, you get to say "You mean like with a cloth?"
ReplyDelete6:01 what facts? You tell us what the real and actual law breaking facts are, go ahead, tell us in detail
ReplyDeleteTrump didn't have the biggest crowd size for his inauguration, but he does have the biggest impeachment ever. Even more votes than Clinton!
ReplyDeleteHow will he build on it? Maybe longest trial? I'm betting on getting impeached twice.
To quote Trump's brilliant foreign policy doctrine, "who knows" and "we'll see what happens".
