KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Fire Department put out a fire at a trailer overnight. Firefighters were called to 11908 N. Illinois Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Firefighters on scene say the fire was contained to the front of the house. It was extinguished quickly.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Investigators are still trying to figure out what started a fire inside a Midtown high-rise apartment building on Christmas Eve. It happened around 7 p.m. at the Westport Central apartments on Armour Blvd. Shattered glass still lines the street and sidewalks, blown out from 9th story windows where the fire started.

Kansas expanding program for avoiding lines at DMV offices

TOPEKA, KS (AP) - Kansas is allowing some residents seeking to get or renew a driver's license to schedule appointments so that they can avoid a tedious wait in line. The Division of Vehicles in the Kansas Department of Revenue recently expanded the program to an additional nine offices in populous areas after launching a pilot program in Topeka in August.

While it's difficult to determine exactly what school districts are paying teachers, GlassDoor, which collects salary information, says Kansas City educators are making anywhere from $32,000 to $55,000 a year, well below the national average.
