Kansas City Adopts a Tenants Bill of Rights

A group of tenants in Kansas City, Missouri, is celebrating a victory after the city council approved legislation last week creating a tenants' bill of rights. 1. tl;dr: Single women and retirees living in an apartment or retirement facility will now be forced to legally share a building with convicted rapists and violent offenders because building owners are not allowed to check criminal records

  2. These same tenants won't be celebrating when they get their rent hike, and also fewer places to live. Small business landlords who have small homes for rent are selling out. A lot of them in the northeast and eastside. This is going to backfire big time. But that's our KC democrats catering to thieves and hardcore criminals.

  5. My rentals are off the market, the rent has been raised, rental agreement is only for 3 months and the lease agreement has been changed to severely restrict what happens in my units. They will only be rented to friends and/or people I have known for a period of time. In the meantime I am trying to sell them for an inflated price.
