Kansas City Tenant Bill Of Rights Explained

National muni-blog offers a glimpse at this local progressive move and seems somewhat supportive of stricter regulations over landlords. Checkit:

Kansas City Adopts a Tenants Bill of Rights

A group of tenants in Kansas City, Missouri, is celebrating a victory after the city council approved legislation last week creating a tenants' bill of rights. The bill is a public resource that will help tenants navigate their relationship with landlords, and - just as critically, organizers say - an official expression of solidarity from the local governing body.

tl;dr: Single women and retirees living in an apartment or retirement facility will now be forced to legally share a building with convicted rapists and violent offenders because building owners are not allowed to check criminal records

These same tenants won't be celebrating when they get their rent hike, and also fewer places to live. Small business landlords who have small homes for rent are selling out. A lot of them in the northeast and eastside. This is going to backfire big time. But that's our KC democrats catering to thieves and hardcore criminals.

Sick of paying top dollar to live where you live? The city of Topeka, Kan. is offering as much as $15,000 for people to relocate there. (Fox)

Beginning to sound tempting rather then continue slogging around in this crime and corruption infested shit hole.

My rentals are off the market, the rent has been raised, rental agreement is only for 3 months and the lease agreement has been changed to severely restrict what happens in my units. They will only be rented to friends and/or people I have known for a period of time. In the meantime I am trying to sell them for an inflated price.
