KANSAS CITY NOVEMBER 2019 UNHAPPY ELECTION RETURNS: LOW TURNOUT AS AMERICAN DEMOCRACY FADES!!!

Before the crying starts, here's what we know for sure . . .

KANSAS CITY VOTERS MOSTLY IGNORED TODAY'S ELECTION AND OFFERED A DIVISIVE PREVIEW OF ELECTION 2020!!!

Stopped by a few Midtown polling places and I'm pretty sure there were tumbleweeds rolling across the parking lot during the midday which not only speaks to this town's "vibrancy" but also the overall interest in issues the Parks Board FAILED to properly address.

Bigger picture:

538: "The 2019 elections allow us to take the country’s temperature ahead of the knock-down, drag-out clash of 2020"

Money quote:

NYMag: "Off-year elections, like special elections, mostly affect the scattered populations of people directly affected. But they are also interpreted — and over-interpreted — as national political harbingers. At a time when the national political landscape is dominated by the outsized personality of Donald J. Trump, odds are the elections of November 5 will be anxiously examined for what they mean for the prospect of ejecting Trump from office in 2020 or giving him four more harrowing years."

Again, we drill down to the local elections for a closer look . . .

Finally, let's have fun with this . . .

  4. Folks resent the race card when exploited! Paseo was always about history and civic process, not the out of touch ministers who exploit their congregations and our collective history of race.
Congratulations to those who did the work to get it on the ballot. Hope City Hall learns something for their divisive short sighted leadership.

  7. In KCMO. residents long ago learned that their votes, concerns, or best interests really don't count, so why waste their time on election day?
The clowncils do whatever they want, regardless of the empty promises during the campaigns, and, just like the Paseo, airport terminal, and streetcar fiascos, insider deals and demands of special interests always win the day.
KCMO electeds are the emptiest of suits and little more than D-list entertainer wannabees .
Big frogs in a very little pond.
So you might as well vote for the winners on Dancing with the Stars.
Sad to watch year after year after year.
Why not make Jermaine take down all those street signs himself?
