KANSAS CITY NOVEMBER 2019 UNHAPPY ELECTION RETURNS: LOW TURNOUT AS AMERICAN DEMOCRACY FADES!!!

Before the crying starts, here's what we know for sure . . .

KANSAS CITY VOTERS MOSTLY IGNORED TODAY'S ELECTION AND OFFERED A DIVISIVE PREVIEW OF ELECTION 2020!!!

Stopped by a few Midtown polling places and I'm pretty sure there were tumbleweeds rolling across the parking lot during the midday which not only speaks to this town's "vibrancy" but also the overall interest in issues the Parks Board FAILED to properly address.

Bigger picture:

538: "The 2019 elections allow us to take the country’s temperature ahead of the knock-down, drag-out clash of 2020"

Money quote:

NYMag: "Off-year elections, like special elections, mostly affect the scattered populations of people directly affected. But they are also interpreted — and over-interpreted — as national political harbingers. At a time when the national political landscape is dominated by the outsized personality of Donald J. Trump, odds are the elections of November 5 will be anxiously examined for what they mean for the prospect of ejecting Trump from office in 2020 or giving him four more harrowing years."

Again, we drill down to the local elections for a closer look . . .

KMBC: See Kansas City Election Results for Nov. 5, 2019

Finally, let's have fun with this . . .

SAVE THE PASEO SEEMS LIKE THE PRO-TRUMP VOTE WHILST MLK BLVD SUPPORT SEEM TO SIGNAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSEMENT!!! HOW DOES TONIGHT'S KANSAS CITY VOTE IMPACT 2020???

You decide . . .

Howd that Paseo thingy go?

Paseo is winning so kiss my ass Lucas ya loser.

Folks resent the race card when exploited! Paseo was always about history and civic process, not the out of touch ministers who exploit their congregations and our collective history of race.
Congratulations to those who did the work to get it on the ballot. Hope City Hall learns something for their divisive short sighted leadership.

Overheard Coming From MLK Gravesite

Save the paseo is LOSING!

You rat soup 5% of the vote counting MF'er!

In KCMO. residents long ago learned that their votes, concerns, or best interests really don't count, so why waste their time on election day?
The clowncils do whatever they want, regardless of the empty promises during the campaigns, and, just like the Paseo, airport terminal, and streetcar fiascos, insider deals and demands of special interests always win the day.
KCMO electeds are the emptiest of suits and little more than D-list entertainer wannabees .
Big frogs in a very little pond.
So you might as well vote for the winners on Dancing with the Stars.
Sad to watch year after year after year.
Why not make Jermaine take down all those street signs himself?

I love the snarky cynicism but I actually think save the paseo has a good chance and that's a good thing.

NOT a Trump voter at all and I voted for it!

8:32 is totally fucking delusional. 56% 0f the votes are in and it's leading with 72% of the vote

Anonymous said...

Remember, they want to steal and erase your history

Trump should be IMPEACHED and LOCKED UP yet I still voted for the return of The Paseo. I would also like to see 63rd Street changed to MKL Jr. Blvd in the near future. No racism here.

Unfortunately you're not going to have the good parts of your city preserved when you're going to vote for those who advocate for jailing a sitting president

Now remove bicycle lanes from Armour Blvd

Fox 4 reports the Paseo has been saved!

I was completely caught off guard by how much park land the city is trying to dump, unfuckingbelievable.

The Paseo is looking good!

Save Armour Blvd !

Anonymous said...

Maybe they will sell those MLK Jr street signs in some kind of auction and all the reverends can collect money from their constituents to buy them at a huge markup then send the mlk family their cut

Anonymous said...

Suck a dick Lucas. Wasn't even close

Save the Property Tax Increases!

Anonymous said...

10 bucks says we're still on the hook for paying the mlk money

Anonymous said...

How much money has the City paid the Martin Luther King estate in royalties for use of his name on the existing street signs?

Anonymous said...

Trump 2020

Anonymous said...

Maybe KCMO can re-adjust the property tax increases now that they no longer have to come up with 300,000 a year for MLK naming rights

Lukass is crying about how bad the city will look when mlk gets voted out, he should be more worried about how bad he looks because he, reed and the fat fake revs did this illegally, that’s really all he cares about.

Anonymous said...

9:09 don't worry property tax increases are going to pay for the conversion and all the rest of Sly James follys.

Anonymous said...

Save the Frank White and Gail Beatty!

Anonymous said...

Yikes, that’s it folks, mlk goes down badly, its a bad idea to piss the people off.

The Kentucky GOP governor lost in a state Trump won by 30 points. Even after a MAGA rally and days of tweeting.

Virginia flipped their legislature blue.

2020 is going to bad. Roberts Kansas senate seat is next to flip.

"SAVE THE PASEO SEEMS LIKE THE PRO-TRUMP VOTE "

This is total bullshit. I voted for the change, and I wouldn't vote for the great pumpkin even if there were no other choice.
