THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! SCARY TIMES CONFRONTING KANSAS CITY THIS HALLOWEEN WEEK!!!

For our late night readers and those up for the witching hour we share a quick preview of spooky times ahead for Kansas City.

A quick list of what to watch for in the coming days . . .

Bloody Mess: Kansas City Homicide Count

KCPD counts 122 murders in KCMO so far this year and that's a 10-YEAR-RECORD PACE for this date on the calendar. We've enjoyed a peaceful few days but Halloween week always provides increased instances of mischief.

Courthouse Reckoning: Jackson County Property Tax Crisis Climax Cometh . . .

KCTV5 has led the local reporting on this issue as the BOE threatens to FINALLY act, Missouri politicos are shaking their fist toward KCMO's Democratic Party leadership AND, yes, the scariest thing of all is that the Feds are still watching and patiently waiting.

Death Of The Downtown Renaissance

Behind the scenes, friends of the blog in the finance game tell us that that THE STRATA DEAL NEEDS TO HAPPEN. We'll see if Mayor Quinton Lucas can skillfully navigate his way out of this economic showdown but make no mistake that DEVELOPERS still have a great deal of influence in this town's politics despite the grassroots movement against corporate welfare.

And so . . . All of this inspires our Kansas City Saturday night playlist of scary, funky songs for Halloween week.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. Add all the drugs pouring into KC and maybe you've got a decent list. The crime is a lot worse than the subsidy which is the only thing KC has going for it at this point.

    1. ^^^^ Then we're screwed. Lot more important things that we need than office space.

    2. More police, better streets and storm sewers that work. THAT should be the priority for the current mayor and council. Sidewalks for the Northland and Midtown repairs have already been promised by the GO Bonds vote. Sadly, haven't seem much progress on that front whatsoever. There's a laundry list of things that KCMO needs to accomplish before the end of this year and in the next 4 years. Hopefully, we get more than social media photo ops. - Garnish

  2. You want to be really scared? Just look at the city's Revenue to debt ratio, the projections for next year's budget, and then the interest on the go bonds over the next 20 years. Long-term, a financial apocalypse is waiting for KC if we continue along this path. May already be too late for any real kind of warning. That's why all of those people moving to downtown are renting not buying.

  4. We can give hundreds of millions of dollars away but they refuse to add more police...... this is the dumbest city on the face of the earth, and it’s run by black demmocrims so what’s that tell you.

Another fine example of what you get when you vote demoncrook, you people are beyond stupid. When you’re too stupid to realize that it’s the lyin crooked dems that have the majority of the wealth in this country and are stealing it from you, well, you deserve it morons.

You're clearly not smart enough to solve the problems that you've created for yourself.

  7. Ironic that we "must have" all these new structures because of "pent up demand" and there is a "huge market" just waiting..... but developers need city help with the risk.

  8. Hey Developers: If the free market can support Strata, then build it. If it needs a taxpayer guaranteed incentive then it's not really needed.
