TKC MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY ARTISTS PROTEST AGAINST KEMPER MUSEUM PRIVATE PRISON LA MIGRA CONNECTION!!!

Another public post and shared content regarding an artsy cowtown movement that deserves a peek . . .

CHECK THE START OF PROTEST AND RALLIES URGING THE KEMPER MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART TO BREAK CONNECTIONS WITH PRIVATE PRISONS USED TO DETAIN REFUGEES!!!

A quick rundown of the controversy . . .

An artsy national blog broke the story and sent it to locals:

The Museum Trustee Behind a $130 Million Lawsuit to Keep ICE Detainees in Prison

Public radio took notice AFTER we blogged it:

The Kemper Museum Of Contemporary Art Caught Up In National Immigration Debate

Over the weekend . . .

Kansas City Arts Community Leaders Joined The Struggle . . .

And so . . .

What we find interesting is that INSIDERS KNOW THEY'RE TANGLED IN WEB OF CONNECTIONS BETWIXT THE KEMPERS & THE LOCAL ART WORLD . . . Some of these very same protesters have taken cash from the Museum and/or events funded by the Kemper clan. And so the moral high ground is just a bit harder to attain whilst the local high art culture war seems to be building to a crescendo.

Developing . . .

  1. Going back to the first story. Seems like more of a DNC inspired marching order. Sorry if that's a conspiracy theory but I really doubt there's much local antipathy toward the Kempers. They basically support half of the artists in KC.

    1. Only the good ones. The rest are the other half of the protests.

    2. Looks like there are half as many media as protesters.

Kemper has to protect the bank's investment and underwriting of the bonds. The artists have no clue how Kemper's business is run. They just know how to stick a high price on what they call art. The need to learn not to bite the hand that feeds them.

  3. Private prisons have really become a travesty and revenue center. Bill Gates (liberal icon) makes millions by investing in them. Sad, really sad.

  5. ^^^^ LOL!

But seriously, I support these artists because they are doing the right thing and speaking up for their community instead of just sitting on their asses and complaining on the Internet.

  6. The Kempers literally funded by Mariner. What are they going to do, picket the place in hopes mariner stops funding one of the better free modern art museums in the Midwest?

  7. Employment based immigration is a complex process that may involve a number of government agencies within the Federal Department of Labor, the State Department of Labor, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) and the Department of State. https://www.foreignlaborcert.doleta.gov/hiring.cfm

  8. Never let facts or the truth get in the way of a liberal agenda. UMB Bank is acting as a trustee to the bond holders of this prison. The nasty profit loving bondholders are probably pensioners - retired cops, nurses, teachers, and teamsters that depend on these bonds for their retirement. When the city changes their mind and does not adhere to what they promised the bondholders - it's the retirees suffer. As the trustee, UMB is obligated to pursue recourse on behalf of those injured. If the city wants to back out of its obligations, they can pay the bondholders damages or honor their contract.

This liberal campaign to demonize the Kemper family is a low point. This family has GIVEN to so many charitable organizations around our city for decades - employing thousands of people and being good citizens. The sad part is the media gives coverage of a handful of people with no real knowledge of UMB or Kempers role. They see ICE, lawsuit, UMB, Kemper and now want to tear down a great family and museum. Shame on the media for covering this with facts/reason or at the very least not giving EQUAL time to highlight UMB and Kemper's role in this issue or our community. Perhaps they'd like to run them out of town instead in the hope of creating a media storm for 15 minutes of low rating TV/newsprint. Thanks for looking out for our city!
