Kansas City Streetcar Ridership: Fake News

A quick update from the toy train and so many consultants and social media hacks still aboard this gravy train:

"Highest ridership ever. Thank you #KC for riding the #kcstreetcar"

The newspaper and every other local publication have pretty much ignored these ridership claims that have now evolved into pure fantasy.

Let's not forget that streetcar touts numbers that are now close to 200% greater than comparable cities like Seattle, D.C. and Dallas.

The independent verification is sketchy at best yet the ride continues into Midtown without a citywide vote . . .

  1. I wouldn't say it's fake, maybe a bit suspect because they're trying to sell the extension when KC hates taxes.

  12. City leadership fabricated numbers??? Odd...

  13. Expansion will never occur. The property increase, which hit the hardest to homes on the proposed route, ensures another tax hike will never be approved by the voters

Understandable if you examine the Methodology -
send 46 Statisticians to a Streetcar Stop, have them board, do a headcount of everyone on the vehicle for one block, then multiply by the total number of trips run in a month.
