Today's top ranking editorial offering from The Kansas City Star is either a brilliant troll OR possibly the most myopic and willfully ignorant screed written this week.
Kansas City Star: Big Slick brings out stars for a good cause. Why does it feel like everybody’s white?
As usual, we believe this column misses the point and targets local celebs working for a good cause. There are many examples of inequity and social injustice but attacking people attempting to raise money for sick youngsters seems malicious and horribly narrow-minded.
Don't get it twisted, clowning celebrities is fun and always makes for a good read but there's a lot more entertaining and insightful reasons to roast these B-listers with local connections other than the fact that they're all white guys. Again, just a bit of consideration must be given to the fact that they're donating their time and money to help sick youngsters.
Even better than our insight, here's the worthwhile TKC reader reaction that takes the silly argument to it's logical conclusion:
TKC READER: IS KANSAS CITY STAR EDITORIAL BOARD RACIST OR JUST DUMB?
In what must be a top contender for "Worst Editorial From The White Liberal Racists of the KC Star Editorial Board" (yes that's a real category) comes this gem from Toriano Porter, who…..wait for it…….is the ONLY person of color on said board. Not only that, but Mr. Porter is the newest member of the board, and obviously serves as the sole token minority, shielding the editorial board from accusations of blatant overt racism. Please see definition of "enabling behavior."
Ignorant pandering liberals seek to closely examine each minute strata of societal layer and forcefully impose a quota system which reflects the representative percentage of each pigeonholed group. In Mr. Porter's "Wonderful World of Diversity and Inclusion" everywhere you go in society there would be exactly 72.4 percent Whites, 16.3 percent Latinos, 12.6 percent Blacks, 4.8 percent Asian, etc. Likewise, each and every venue would have a slight majority of females present, as they represent 50.8 percent of the American population.
The implication of just these factors (race/ethnicity, gender) alone, would of course, spell doom for the existing structure of such diverse things as professional sports teams, U.S. military staffing, Congress, every neighborhood in America, every place of worship, and the population of every city and state in the country.
If you thought the Green New Deal plan didn't go far enough, welcome to the complete chaos of Toriano Porter, where:
- 72.4 percent of the NBA players are White, and 50.8 percent are women.
- KCMO's 28.71 percent of residents who are Black, must be downsized to reflect only 12.6 percent of the city's population.
- Latinos hold more representation on the KCMO Council than Blacks.
- The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will be shuttered as a racist relic of bygone times.
- Toriano Porter backyard barbecues must include 4.8 percent Asian, and 72.4 percent White guests.
- Black Americans will be a permanent minority (12.6 percent maximum) in all things, including jazz/blues/rap music, educational/athletic scholarships, barbecue/soul food, traditionally Black college enrollment, sports/entertainment, Congressional caucuses, media/journalism, etc.

You decide . . .
RACIST OR DUMB?
ReplyDeleteWhy can't it be both?
Maybe they are smart and don’t want negroes there. It is for a good cause, something negroes don’t participate in
ReplyDeleteI bet this ticks off at least one of the STARS' three readers.
ReplyDeleteThe koloreds don’t do free anything let alone give money to a good cause. I remember when don cheadle turned them down, he had his chance.
ReplyDeleteRace doesnt exist except for when im gettin at whiteys azz -toriano porter
ReplyDeleteBernie mac and the kings of comedy were too black, uganda kenya congo Tanzania ghana are too black # equity
ReplyDeleteThey have two koloreds boys and a woman spic there so what’s a matter with that?
ReplyDeleteWell just substitute 'Jewish' for White and...well you get the picture. Mr. Porter's intellect is as shallow as a kiddie pool during a drought.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is becoming an anti-white publication, I hope they realize it's killing their revenue. I would not pay for that kind of trash.
ReplyDeleteThat KC Star article has to be a joke. It reads like The Onion.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the article, I knew that the paper is slowly dying. Actually, it's not that big of a loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the Star's Editorial Board to do an article about how the players in the NFL and NBA don't reflect the same ethnic percentages as the overall American population. If it doesn't match exactly, somebody must be a racist ass! It can't be that those non-black ethnic groups are less capable and don't belong in the NFL or NBA, right? Where are all the Asian-American football players, dammit? MLK said to not judge people by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. Every day, the Star completely obliterates this concept by judging whites to be racists.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Don't hold your breath. Seems like The Star is just trying to be a social justice rag and not a real newspaper, it's a shame that's how they're going to end their run.
ReplyDeleteMaybe people of color just said no, or are not famous enough anymore to do this event. Say what you will about the five featured. But at least they act in TV shows and major movies.
ReplyDeleteThink about this, what famous people of color do you think of from Kansas City that are not athletes?
Eddie Griffin? Sure, if it was 2001. Griffin really hasn't done much since Undercover Brother.
Don Cheadle? Yes, but maybe Cheadle just didn't want to do it.
Tech N9ne? Not famous enough outside Kansas City.
Are there really any famous hispanics or asians from Kansas City??? Non off the top of my head.
What a dumb comment @9:17.
DeleteSelena Gomez is Hispanic and she'll be at Big Slick this weekend.
She has 151 million followers on instagram, she has hosted SNL and she has been in 2 #1 box office movies and has 3 hit albums. Gosh, I really hate that some readers are so clueless. This also proves that the Star column was completely wrong their alleged racism.
The Star never lets the facts get in the way of a good story.
ReplyDeleteAny celeb, no matter color or gender, was welcome to come volunteer for a good cause. Who didn't show is not an issue. Big thanks to those that did, I am sure the children (remember it is for the children) and their families are grateful.
ReplyDeletewhy don't they call up eddie griffin and call it a day. he likes to hang out in the parking lot at marsh's sunfresh.
ReplyDeleteI find it very hard to believe that the Star isn't wise to the fact that they represent a minority opinion that they helped create. They also must know that the folks that side with them will side with their grandfather's after they've been mugged. That's about 1 in 3.5. Some of the others are too proud to admit their complicity in the fallacy. That might give us about the usual 65% of Americans that know damn good and well what the truth is. We should quit even checking what these fake outfits and their Jayvee journalists have to say-it just legitimizes them and keeps somebody getting a paycheck. In reality, I think they would keep losing money like all forms of media-and most shopping centers-but a bigger "able to lose trillions" entity seems to be placing the hope of changing ideology over what they view as a juvenile profit motive.
ReplyDeleteIf you STILL have a subscription just CANCEL IT to let them know this guy is NOTHING but a troublemaker. ps. Is he even from KC...?
ReplyDelete8:05 Please don't insult The Onion.
ReplyDeleteIs it always about race now?
ReplyDeleteSo what if they are white.
Get over it.
signed, old white dude.
All humans hate negroes it's that simple.
ReplyDeleteA new standard in laziness. The author posed questions without even the slightest bit of investigating on his own. He quoted an individual who gave nothing but opinions, zero facts just as Eddie Griffin was banned or Slick organizers stated they want no one of color. Lazy lazy lazy and yet still goes to print.
ReplyDeleteIf Blacks had not eliminated over a third of their numbers through abortion, the would be a much higher percent of the population. The dumb chucks did it to themselves!
ReplyDeleteI was at the event tonight. They showed a video that included many celeb well-wishers who could not make it, including one of my favorites, Don Cheadle. I hope the author was present to see it, and to help raise money for KC’s sick kids.
