Midtown Kansas City just endured a heavy downpour that included a HAIL, fallen branches, a few power outages and every newsie weather lady in the metro tweeting up a frenzy. The rain has passed for the moment and rapid deprecation of local cars endures . . .

KSHB: Friday morning thunderstorms cause power outages, downed trees

Power FAIL Roundup . . .

KMBC: KCP&L reported close to 350 outages as of 8:15 a.m. Friday with more than 17,000 customers without power. Independence Power and Light reports more than 900 customers without power, BPU reports 5,800 without power and nearly 4,000 people are without power in the area serviced by Westar Energy. Heavy rains also caused street flooding in many areas.
