Hipsters and developers would like the public to think that Kansas City's First Friday tradition is an artsy affair packed with the creative class and the local elite.
Sometimes.
But this is Kansas City.
And a good crowd and a driving strip like Southwest Blvd. also provide a great place to do donuts, burnouts and scare the suburbanites.
Admittedly, this isn't in the middle of the artsy district but does provide a good indiation that the whole "East Crossroads" scheme financed by taxpayers isn't gonna work.

^^^^ Kinda have to agree. Seems dangerous, they should find a closed course. Interesting to see KCPD just drive through it without trying to stop it in the middle of the street.
