Progress on Loews hotel in downtown KC celebrated with topping-off ceremony

Construction progress on the new 24-story Loews Convention Center Hotel was celebrated Wednesday with a topping-off ceremony.The 800-room hotel is expected to open in spring 2020.The topping-off ceremony celebrated the highest beam of the hotel going into place at 17th and Baltimore streets.

  3. Isn't the problem that you have a glut unless there's an event in town? A bit of a catch 22, right? You want to host big events but (and we've seen this in the past) you lose out on those events because you don't have enough rooms.
