Downtown Convention Hotel Celebration Amid Glut Of Rooms Inside The Loop

Progress on Loews hotel in downtown KC celebrated with topping-off ceremony

Construction progress on the new 24-story Loews Convention Center Hotel was celebrated Wednesday with a topping-off ceremony.The 800-room hotel is expected to open in spring 2020.The topping-off ceremony celebrated the highest beam of the hotel going into place at 17th and Baltimore streets.

Don't say anything about a downtown Hotel room glut, the City will audit your ass out of existence!

Well they are slapping it up fast anyway. Maybe it will last ten years before the problems begin to show up.

Isn't the problem that you have a glut unless there's an event in town? A bit of a catch 22, right? You want to host big events but (and we've seen this in the past) you lose out on those events because you don't have enough rooms.
