TKC MUST READ!!! TKC READER FACT CHECKS NEW KCI AIRPORT BROKEN PROMISES AMID CITY HALL CASH GRAB!!!
At the outset of this week we talked about the sketchy INTERFUND BORROWING proposed by City Hall to help pay for the airport. Taking cash from the Water Department, the general fund or anywhere else is just one part of the bait and switch underway . . .
And so, here's a worthwhile note sent our way on the topic of the current airport hot mess . . .
"KCMO taxpayers should loudly reject broken promises to voters, particularly by a city that struggles to provide the the most basic services. What's more basic than water? Now Kansas City wants to use Water Department funds to pay for airport bonds?!?!?!
"This is a symptom of failed city leadership. What rational person expects the airlines to rush into a deal that require's them to pay for over 4 billion dollars in debt? We haven't heard from the airlines directly? No kidding. Who expects the airlines to get involved in tangled local politics? Here's what the airlines are saying: Skip the local drama and just send us a deal we can live with . . .
"So who's really at fault? The airlines? Or city officials who let the cost of the new airport explode in the last year? We're in a hostage situation for sure. We're hostage to current city leadership not the airlines."
You decide . . .
