Councilman suggests property tax hike for affordable housing | The Kansas City Star

Kansas City is working steadily toward its first-ever housing policy, but a significant challenge remains: how to fund a fix to its affordable housing shortage. One solution, offered Wednesday by Mayor Pro Tem Scott Wagner, would boost Kansas Citians' property tax rate to raise about $4 million per year - or an estimated $41 million over its 10-year life.

  8. But the people will do it because that's their answer to everything, more tax even when you don't see your tax dollar at work for you. The city is an mess tell them to get it cleaned up, functional, and lower the crime before you give any more money to these thieves! For once JUST SAY NO!

  12. NO MORE TAXES.....moron, you can’t get blood from a turnip! You aren’t responsible with the taxes we give you.

  13. Better solution is to take money from the funds Slie is handing over to the developers to fund the affordable housing program.

The city has the funds but they do not manage them responsibly.
