The Kansas City Weekly Power Rankings

Here's the last look at the most powerful in Kansas City before local head to the ballot and make some of the biggest decisions in the history of The Republic.

And so, we compile this quick list as we get hyperlocal in the movers and shakers who wield their influence over 12th & Oak:

Phil Levota

Mr. Levota is taking on politics as usual in Jackson County and his efforts to check the funds of disgraced Exec Mike Sanders sent shockwaves throughout the local political scene this week. Less than 48 hours later, amid somewhat biased coverage, Independence, MO politicos seem worried about a shakeup in their consulting contracts amid further scrutiny pushed by this local power player. A great deal of local politics is in the metro is settled in court and Phil Levota has proven an expert at playing this local game.

KCMO Council Member Teresa Loar

This week a Kansas City veteran was honored as one of the top 10 heroes in the nation. While his efforts impressive in its own right, his organization has earned a great deal of KCMO support from Council Lady Teresa Loar who is is the board president of the Veterans Community Project this soldier is working to promote. The group also enjoyed quite a bit of press when Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes spent time working on their housing effort his week and bringing along nationwide press. Behind the scenes, council member Teresa Loar has been instrumental in all of this work that continues as the weather grows colder and more local Vets need access to housing.

Jason Grill

KC pundits skew older and out of touch with most locals. Jason and "The Grill Nation" have managed to connect the civic world of politics and a great deal of the social scene. And as the only mainstream local talk show pundit under 50. He continues to wield a great deal of power.

As always . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. There are a lot of influential people in Kansas City but none more so than our President Trump.

This is a challenge to you TKC, when the blue wave turns out to be nothing more than puddle and all of these democrats start crying and moaning again. That following week you MUST rank the president and number one on the list because the commander and chief will have shown us all again that the nation is with him.

    1. @10:46 - You are absolutely nucking futs! The fact that you would even pledge allegiance to the orange cheeto over your country means you need your head examined. Trump is leading his party into ruin and we are lucky the election means he can't do it to the rest of the country.

Don't forget that Mayor Sylvester James is still not in Jail, and the bribe money from "Developers" is still rolling in the door every day.
