SHAWNEE MISSION POST #METOO?!?!? PUBLISHER JAY SENTER CONFRONTS QUESTIONS OVER INTERVIEW TACTICS FOR SHADY MARRIAGE STORY ON FEMALE PRAIRIE VILLAGE MAYOR CANDIDATE!!!

In an ironic turnabout, JoCo Publisher Jay Senter confronts pushback from social media denizens over his recent story attempting to shame a female mayoral candidate over her marital history.

Mr. Senter didn't offer much of an argument as to why it was relevant and the candidate declined to discuss her personal life which she didn't feel was important to her job qualifications.

We broke news of the controversy FIRST and as usual the discussion was interesting.

The aftermath, The Shawnee Mission Post has continued to confront criticism along with troubling allegations . . .

One commenter notes:

"What I saw was a woman agreeing to sit down and have a discussion with two men. She was then berated and yelled at. She never once raised her voice despite being continuously interrupted and having a finger repeatedly pointed in her face. I specifically heard one of the men claim to have no interest in her personal life..."

The response from Mr. Senter's wife was quick and seemed to engage in a bit of gaslighting in defense of her hubby:

"I don't doubt that what you saw was a very tense meeting. I do know that Serena actually reached out to Jay, and that he requested his co-founder Dan to sit with them so that they could be sure to get all the facts and nothing would be misconstrued. I know both sides were frustrated for a number of reasons. Really, we don't publish stories like this without lots and lots of deliberation. If we know information and feel it is relevant to voters, it seems like our obligation to publish it in the most respectful way we can. That's what we did here."

Their perspective:

"Jay really wanted to give Serena lots of opportunities to explain her situation, and he was frustrated that she wouldn't/didn't. I think he felt stuck between a rock and a hard place."

A worthwhile reply from a reader:

"I call BS . . .You are mansplaining for Jay and Dan. Your "lots and lots of deliberation" failed and your admission of Jay's frustration on lack of explanation on something that is not relevant coincides with the definition of Bullying."

Another relevant reply:

"What a trashy article! How many male politicians are asked about their failed marriages?"

Later, in a predictably sleazeball move Mr. Senter invited private phone calls on the topic.

JAY AND HIS WEBSITE ARE COMMITTED TO SLUT-SHAMING SOME LADY CANDIDATE WITH FAKE NEWS ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANY IMPACT ON SMALL TIME PRAIRIE VILLAGE POLICY!!!

There is no argument for why it's relevant as a small city news item . . . THE SMP STORY IS SLEAZE and it would be more honest of the Shawnee Mission Post to admit as much instead of holding themselves up like bastions of community journalism when they're really just running a low-rent suburban tabloid.

If they included hottie photos of super models, they might even get a laugh or two . . .
