Kansas City Weekly Power Rankings

Quick peek at the strongest in town this week as everybody struggles to get things done before the holidays render work irrelevant. Read more:

Kansas City Chiefs Honcho Clark Hunt

Kicking RB Kareem Hunt to the curb after an embarrassing smackdown video might be one of the most decisive front office moves in Kansas City Chiefs history. Credit to Clark Hunt who clearly had some role in the EPIC decision that should send shock waves throughout the team and the NFL for the rest of the weekend.

Council Lady Katy Shields

$300K for affordable housing in Kansas City isn't much but the bit of regulation and tax on the new tech at least shows this Council Lady thinking creatively about transit trends. Moreover, this move reminds us that she has greater standing in the community than any of her newbie civic challengers.

Mayoral Candidate Quinton Lucas

This week the mayoral campaign move of the moment goes to Kansas City 3rd District Council Dude Quinton Lucas who doubles down on his MLK name change effort on The Paseo and pushes forward with his campaign despite skeptics.

And so . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. Shields should've ran for mayor this time. She probably would've won.

  3. So Clark Hunt is a hero for protecting his investment? Unlikely. While his action was decisive it was purely out of self-interest and strictly just a Brandon decision. I'm thinking that he probably also save some money off the salary cap without justification. If you look at it more of a cost cutting measure and not any kind of ethical stand.

  4. The NFL and Clark Hunt have lost their minds. If there weren't video of the incident, it would be a non story. Neither party pursued charges.
I was all against the kneeling stuff, and I oppose the gangsta behavior of NFL thugs, but this is going TOO FAR.
I am pretty sure Hunt made the decision knowing the NFL was going to sanction Cream, but even so.

  5. Won't talk disrespectful of GHWB, wouldn't be prudent...they always do things big in Texas. Happy trails...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  6. Fuk dat name change. Leave Paseo the hell alone. That change won't do shit for this town. Move on to things that matter to all KC residents.
