MERRIAM COUNCIL CONFRONTED FLOOD OF PUBLIC OUTCRY OVER POOL CRISIS THANKS TO KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER!!!

This wasn't really a debate about a pool . . . It was about local government accountability and and transparency with public resources.
To wit . . .
SPECIAL THANKS TO AN AWESOME TKC TIPSTER WHO TALKED THIS STORY FIRST FOR OUR BLOG COMMUNITY AND GARNERED A DELUGE OF SUPPORT!!!
Remember that we talked about this one over the weekend and, once again, now it's new fact:
Fox4: Merriam residents pack city council meeting trying to save pool before Thursday
Deets:
The pool will go from 50 meters to 25 yards. Residents complained that will make it the smallest city pool in Johnson County.
Some residents called for wholesale changes, including cutting plans for a new Johnson County Library on that same land out of the deal if it means compromising the outdoor space.
After more than an hour of public comment, city officials adjourned for a work session regarding the pool's design. A meeting to finalize plans is scheduled for Sept. 24.
Developing . . .
Sounds like the residents of Merriam get off their butts and do what the people of Kansas City won't do.
ReplyDelete^^^^ +1
ReplyDelete^^You mean they did something other than complain on a blog about it all day long?
ReplyDeleteThey prefer a pool over a library which they could use to get information and some education. Definitely have their priorities in order.
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Time that might have meant something. But in today's Tech world the library is at your fingertips. much like brick-and-mortar we don't need libraries anymore
Delete7:51 they have a very good library located two blocks from where they want to build a new one that does not need to be rebuilt at all.
ReplyDeleteSo know what you're talking about before you show us what an idiot you are.
^^Why? It hasn't stopped you from flapping your gums all day.
ReplyDelete^^^ Eternally offended. Gold medal winner.
ReplyDelete8:21, just stop it ya loser.
ReplyDeleteTechnally it's 54.681 yards to 25 yards. Shouldn't mix metric and imperial measurements.
ReplyDelete@8:27AM-Suck a dick. Loser!
ReplyDeleteOnly section ape residents in Merriam use the public pool.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t think they liked water? Or dogs?
