More than anything, it's a passive, weak and ineffectual stance that doesn't inspire confidence . . . It's as if two of the most powerful leaders in KCMO got together and said: "We can't do anything about this problem and here's why."
We welcome a defense of this hopeless gun control blame game but at the end of one tenure and the beginning of another . . . The defeatist talking point seemed exceptionally weak by most accounts.

Mayor Sly James, KCPD Chief Rick Smith call on lawmakers for gun laws in Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mayor Sly James and KCPD Chief Rick Smith are teaming up to push for gun laws in Missouri. "We don't have the ability to require a background check. We don't have the ability to tell people if your gun is stolen out of your car or your home or you lose it, that you have to report it to the police.
Be fair TKC. It was the mostly just Sly talking off the cuff. The Chief didn't seem to share the sentiments and he mostly looked like he wanted to get out of the room.

Political correctness tells us that it's not the shooter's fault, they can't control themselves, and if we just take the guns away they won't get into trouble. Publicly naming and shaming those that are the problem is the only way to stem the violence. The community needs to focus their efforts on identifying and isolating people that are involved in the violence. Instead, the blend in and people treat them like normal members of our community when they should be outcasts.

He can start with addressing the problem of ILLEGAL guns. The police know what weapons they have confiscated on the streets of KC. I'm almost certain the majority, if not all are illegal guns.
He can call out to the folks in the "community" to turn in the guns of their family members. The family knows who has the weapons in their possession, in their homes, in their cars.
He can call out the barbers, beauty shop operators, weave shop operators and have them help with calling out the criminal element in their community.
He can call on the ministers, preachers and have them join in calling out the wrong doing and killing that has taken so many lives and destroyed homes in their congregations.
Let's be HONEST Mayor, it's time to address the real problems... the enablers who allow this criminal activities to continue.

4. Stand up in front of the entire community and tell young men and women of all races to stop having babies that they are unprepared to raise.
