Intense poverty in American cities often inspires higher crime rates but, then again, crime as a result of income inequality if often a byproduct of planting low-income subsidized housing in an otherwise nice part of town . . . Rather than thinking critically about this conundrum, it's easier for partisan hacks to retreat to their safe spaces on competing cable news shows funded by the same car insurance companies.

This year, no less than seven area municipalities made the top twenty, all of them featuring enviably low crime rates.
