Here's a rundown on the afternoon drama . . .
KMBC: KCPD officers injured in shooting near 40th and Manchester - suspect on the run
Deets:
"Incident happened around noon near 40 Highway and Manchester. Three officers were rushed to an area hospital . . . The suspect in this case fled the scene.There is a large police presence in the area near the scene. Avoid the area if possible."
From KCPD: "Approximately 12:15pm undercover and tactical officers were conducting an ongoing investigation at 8300 E 40 hwy. They encountered a suspect who fired on officers with a rifle. Two officers were struck and are at the hospital in stable condition."
Another update from police: The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. That vehicle was recovered a short time later. Officers focused their search nearby the area of 30th and Topping. At that location shortly before 1pm officers once again were fired upon.
Info on 3rd officer hit: An additional (3rd officer) was struck by gunfire and was taken to the hospital . . . The standoff continues at this time.
