Jason Kander has a foothold on national TV chat shows, most of his support and name recognition is local AND he has proven that he's a better fundraiser better than almost anybody in Missouri . . . And so:
There's a bit of low-key insider celebration over today's Mayoral report.
KCUR: Jason Kander To Run For Mayor Of Kansas City, Missouri
They call this "news" but here's a TKC quote from 2017:
"He could (and should) run for Mayor of Kansas City and win EASILY."
We've been talking about it off & on as a better alternative than Prof. Kraske's presidential hype.
Now, a lot of right-wing reactionaries will balk at the decision BUT already he's a better choice for KCMO than Council lady Jolie Justus, Council dude Jermaine Reed & the Council dudes Scott...
Only Council Dude Quinton Lucas could give him a run for his money.
And so we ask our blog community . . .
IS JASON KANDER THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR GIVEN ALL OF CURRENT OPTIONS?!?!?
You decide . . .
Jason > Jolie
ReplyDeleteHe might be better or worse on SJW stuff BUT we won't stop the corporate money grab underway. Too bad, he could make a difference in KCMO.
ReplyDeleteRemember the campaign ad where he assembled an assault weapon?
ReplyDelete^^^ Absolutely I do. I'm hoping that means he's not going to try and take away our guns like Sly.
ReplyDeleteI would like to get on top of Diana.
ReplyDeletewow! would love to have him as mayor!
ReplyDeleteit's about competence and enthusiasm and he has both, even if you disagree with his politics.
many republicans would support him!
his left-wing stuff would be very secondary to running kcmo.
go for it!
also, his youth would be good branding for kc.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of him but I haven't watched a local TV newscast in 25 years.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeletea St Louis born and bred rich-kid jew--what does he know or care about Kansas City issues?
Some notable big money alliances of some StL & KC Christians, Jews, Catholics, and others were long ago established that this state relies on for biz, banking, medical, educational, and social welfare concerns. Kander is in that mix of connections. KC would be winning!
DeleteScott Taylor just shit the bed.
ReplyDeleteJolie Justus eats way more pussy than Kander does. It isn't even close.
ReplyDeleteI think Diana Kander is sweet.
ReplyDelete2:03 Jason was born in Overland Park and went to high school at Miege. I don't know where you're getting the St Louis born and bred stuff.
ReplyDeleteIf he was born in Overland Park and went to school in Kansas, why is he running for office in Missouri?
ReplyDeleteBecasue he lives in Kansas City. Jackoff, you do realize he is a former Missouri Secretary of State, don't you?
ReplyDeleteSome people who were born in Kansas are actually smart enough to get the fuck out when they get old enough.
ReplyDeleteLook, I'll take some lefty b.s. if you can give me basic competence.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least "none of the above" now has a name. I can support him.
ReplyDeleteI don't much care about a candidates views on national or cultural issues. Mostly I want to know who owns him. If he is owned by the same folks as Sly and before that Barnes then the city will continue to deteriorate.
ReplyDeleteI just threw up in my mouth thinking of him a mayor, I don't care how sweet his wife is.
ReplyDeleteSeems like this kid is putting in a lot of effort just to suck some cock
ReplyDeleteI heard he needs a job and the POTUS thing was never going to happen. Is Phil Glynn still in the mix? If so, isn't undercutting a friend?
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteAt least he's white and a democrat which means he doesn't like blacks even though he would never admit that.
He doesn't seem like the kind of person who actually wants to run for an office he could lose. His biggest branding is that he's a social media success and putting him in a position where he would be accountable would most likely blow his entire shtick.
ReplyDeleteAt least he is an experienced professor politician, now the question is that good or bad. A whole lot different t than the parade of half asses we have seen the last 20 years.
ReplyDeleteMCAsskill
ReplyDeleteLoves
Kander
Jason needs to publicly state his views on the failing KCMO infrastructure and backing an audit of the water department.
ReplyDeleteWill the other mayoral candidates now have to make up stories about how they too are combat heroes?
ReplyDeleteWill they have to stencil their blood type on the backs of their shoes?
Jason Pander is ten pounds of seething ambition in a five pound sack.
He has no real interest or understanding of municipal issues and would look at being mayor of KCMO as nothing more than the next step of "what are you going for next?" even more than Sly and the current gang.
From CNBC and fantasy interviews about presidential ambitions with Kraske to KCMO mayor?
Not likely.
Every day I wake up wondering how much longer I have to live in this City?
ReplyDeleteRwally like Jason, h
ReplyDeleteMet him out in Columbia during his Missouri Secretary of State run and he was working hella hard to talk to every one he could. He seems like a very knowledgeable and competent person. He would be great for Kansas City.
Hope Jason doesn't think the City has any money.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the next Mayor will not be able to engage in any big projects since all of the money has been spent and/or pledged -- and being a belt-tightening Mayor is not exactly a path to popularity.
On the other hand, repairing and rebuilding our crumbled infrastructure is unglamorous but necessary work.
McCaskill loves Lucas also. Should be interesting to see which way she goes. Very interesting to see. Kander is being a pompous-privileged white boy. Roy Blunt kicked his ass, so he's "settling" for KC. He doesn't give a damn about KC, except to have his name in the political ring until the next senatorial campaign. This is white privilege at it's best. The simple fact that he even came up with the idea. Maybe us local numb nuts will fall for his game, but the people he wants to impress - politicos on the national level - will surely go "really JJ?"
ReplyDeleteBetter than another negro
DeleteHe is your Best Bet. I have seen some of the other candidates in action. You want to destroy A CITY that is on its way to Be one of the World Class City's. And Yes THE CITY has its problems. Like Many World Class City's .Tony Brought this up Yesterday. There are going to be people moving here from Latin America .and all Over the U.S.AND EUROPE AS WELL THEY want to get out of Madrid and Paris .THE Refuges, are causing many problems, THE Europeans, will go about it through The Visa process .You are going to need a strong Mayor.
ReplyDelete@6/21/18, 5:50 PM
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly makes Kander a "World class 'City' leader?" Mind you, some of the people running, shouldn't be, but what, exactly, does Kander have that they don't. Additionally, you don't find him "fishing" for a political position a bit offensive? Jamie Metzl tried it and it didn't work, and Jamie was as attractive, connected, and as interested (in his case Missouri) as Kander is interested in KC. Of course I could be misreading your post, if so, my apologies, but it looks like your main issue is "THE Refuges, are causing many problems,..." I think KC might focus on a few hundred other matters before worrying about "THE Refuges."
@ 2:04, your repeated and futile attempts to paint Joie Justus as a lesbian are becoming more and more desperate.
ReplyDeleteEveryone by now knows that she only "came out" in order to secure her election to the Council in the Fourth District, with its large number of LGBTQ and Liberal residents.
It is well known by now that Ms. Justus is HETERO, in fact embarrassingly so, leading to desperate drunken attempts to find male companionship at several bars both in KC and St. Joseph.
Were she not female, her escapades would undoubtedly be attacked by the @MeToo Movement, since they unquestionably constitute sexual harassment of men.
So stop trying to continue pushing the fiction that Jolie is a lesbian, or at least try to convince her to stay sober.
Jolie eats a lot of pussy. Got it, dipshit? A LOT of pussy.
Delete4:00 is spot on. Kander is a political opportunist. He realized he's way over his head on a national level, so here he is. He has very little political experience to speak of. There are some candidates for mayor with life experience, that have lived and worked in KC. They are better qualified. But, Kander has a cult following with some dems.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Remember when he tried to be Jackson County prosecutor?? Never tried a criminal case.
ReplyDeleteAs if we got a good prosecutor now. We don’t. We have Jean Petersucker Baker and she is completely worthless.
DeleteHave you heard the good news?
ReplyDeleteHe is risen.
I think Kander will be a much nicer feather in KC’s cap than any of the other contenders. I also think he will win easily.
ReplyDeleteNo chance a white guy, even if he is a died in the wool, jewish progressive, gets elected.
ReplyDeleteWhen he lost to Roy Blunt he ran the lying commercial about being a 3rd generation Missourian. Tolal lie for a Kansan. Then he touted his fake soldier period where he stop shuffling papers once to ride in a Humvee with a gun. Another lying politician with a lust for power.
ReplyDelete2:03 and everyone thereafter - Jason grew up in western Shawnee (Red Oaks subdivision), went to public school in the Shawnee Mission School District (Bluejacket/Hocker) and then went to Miege. No knock against Jason - that doesn't make him ineligible for any office. Since coming back to KC from law school in DC he was a local rep for the MO state legislature and then the Sec. of State. He's been elected by residents of KCMO in the past - doesn't that mean they want him to be mayor? Mayor experience is either a great proving ground or a graveyard and that's not always reflective of how they performed. If he runs and wins, his success/failure will add to the narrative of whether he can step up to higher office.
ReplyDeleteI am for someone who will spend and allocate money fairly across all Districts in the City. For many years a significant amount of money from the City has been concentrated in the 3rd district and east side of town while other areas of the City are ignored.
ReplyDeleteZero experience in local government!
ReplyDeleteHowever, his candidacy kills Quentin's chances (they have the exact same base). You probably end up with a runoff between him and a Scott or Justus.
It's just Kander positioning for a Governor run in 2020. Running as a sitting Mayor will give him more credibility than a former Sec State or Senate loser.
Just using Kansas City for a bigger national position. Does not give two shits about KC. He and Phil Glynn were close friends until Kander stabbed him in the back by running against him. Dude can’t be trusted.
ReplyDeletehe needs to win something if he's ambitious for higher office.
