POT SMOKER VETERAN SEYZ KANSAS CITY MUST RELAX MARIJUANA LAWS TO HELP SOLDIERS STRUGGLING AGAINST PTSD!!!

This Memorial Day our blog community has engaged in an important discussion on the topic of PTSD, suicide and reality for local Vets.

However, right now we want to offer an even greater alternative perspective and local opinion that MSM often overlooks.

Here's the word from an Iraq Vet and friend of our TKC blog community:

"The best thing KCMO can do for Veterans is continue to OPT OUT of draconian enforcement of Missouri marijuana laws. We've seen Missouri make strides this session in discussing medical marijuana and I think your readers should know that a lot of Veterans use marijuana to cope with chronic pain and the effects of PTSD, too. This practice is non-addictive and necessary for many of us who can't afford more expensive treatment. Unfortunately, because of needless drug laws, many of our veterans are criminalized because of their use and more of us fall into alcohol or opioid addiction because marijuana is not seen as a viable form of treatment. This has to change and a more resolutions against marijuana enforcement in Kansas City is a good place to start. Please inform your readers about this so they know that not all advocates of legalization are "stoners" but rather people who have served this country and want to help themselves try and recover from injuries . . ."

In this discussion we should remind readers that KCMO recently scaled down penalties for personal weed use but those still involve serious charges that are often overlooked. Meanwhile, local advocates continue to push for outright decriminalization.

You decide . . .

Smoked form is nasty. It poses risks to the smoker while presenting unhealthy exposures via second hand smoke to others. If prescribed in tablets or suspensions, then fine, get your buzz on.

^^^ Most of the above comments look like they're from day drunk alcoholics struggling with anger problems and heart conditions. I think they need some weed also.

  6. They don’t need weed, they need spiritual growth. Addicts will say anything to be able to continue using their drug of choice.

  7. Heroin works better. Let’s legalize heroin.

  8. State and local governments can try to scale down penalties, but Trump and Jeff Sessions are standing by to throw the federal book at these hardened criminal dope smokers.

  11. I note that the writer states, "..a lot of Veterans use marijuana to cope with chronic pain and the effects of PTSD, too. This practice is non-addictive and necessary for many of us who can't afford more expensive treatment." Since the writer doesn't indicate otherwise, I assume he refers to smoking marijuana.

From the NIH: Is marijuana addictive?

Marijuana use can lead to the development of problem use, known as a marijuana use disorder, which takes the form of addiction in severe cases. Recent data suggest that 30 percent of those who use marijuana may have some degree of marijuana use disorder. People who begin using marijuana before the age of 18 are four to seven times more likely to develop a marijuana use disorder than adults.

Marijuana use disorders are often associated with dependence—in which a person feels withdrawal symptoms when not taking the drug. People who use marijuana frequently often report irritability, mood and sleep difficulties, decreased appetite, cravings, restlessness, and/or various forms of physical discomfort that peak within the first week after quitting and last up to 2 weeks. Marijuana dependence occurs when the brain adapts to large amounts of the drug by reducing production of and sensitivity to its own endocannabinoid neurotransmitters.

Personally, I don't care if people want to smoke (marijuana/tobacco/other) in their private space, but I don't want to be around it. Also, they should be liable for public use, like DUI, which results in damage.

One final thought, I find it incredibly odd that states are now legalizing marijuana after years of successful declines in the rate of tobacco use. They all want that extra tax money.

  19. Most of the above commenters would benefit from smoking weed.

I recently fired my medical doctor for being ignorant about marijuana.

She wanted to "treat" my marijuana abuse. I tried to explain to her that I don't abuse it; I use it to treat my PTSD. She thinks my PTSD can be treated with an anti-depressant that makes me impotent. Eventually, I realized I had to fire her for being a Stupid Republican.

  20. You can tell who the fiends are. If their kids are around the weed wackos too much, the unfortunate littles are the mouth breathers, asthmatics, and underachievers. Good for those kids of alkies and other addicts that break the cycle and know how to manage their indulgences responsibly.
