TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS RAGE AND EXPLAIN MASSIVE UPCOMING WATER RATE SPIKE!!!

Over the weekend our blog community provided FIRST NEWS OF AN EPIC WATER RATE & FEE INCREASE confronting Kansas City.

Accordingly . . .

RIGHT NOW KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS OFFER FURTHER EXPLANATION OF THE WATER RATE SPIKE AMID RISING RESIDENT COSTS!!!

Take a look:

Citizens For Responsible Government: Water Rate Increases coming effective May 1, 2018, More Taxes in April...

If you are concerned about the water price increase to be be effective May 1, 2018 you need to go the the City Clerk's website.

Ordinance #180138 contains a monthly "general meter rate increase" from $14.10 per month to $510.00 per month for each meter. You will be charged this increase if you have a meter even if you don’t use any water.

Next there will be a monthly "ordinary commodity usage charge" from a minimum of $4.70 per 100 cubic feet up to a maximum of $5.22 per 100 cubic feet of water usage. In addition, if your meter has to be manually read, there will be a $19.00 charge for each reading.

The increases for users outside the city limits will be higher.

Remember if the streetcar expansion proceeds, all the utility will have to be relocated and that cost will be spread among all taxpayers, not just those living within the TDD. You can expect increases in gas and electric bills as well as your water bill.

KANSAS CITY - A CITY OF TAXES:

In addition to these water rate increases, if you live in Kansas City, Your property taxes are going up to pay for the $800,000,000 GO Bond. Next the City will ask you to vote for an renewal of the 1% sales tax for infrastructure in April.

Wasn’t the $800,000,000 GO Bond for infrastructure? This 1% tax was temporary and to be voted on every five years if it was to be extended. We have voted to extend it giving the City $700,000,000 over the last 10 years for infrastructure improvements? Where did that go? Now we’ve given them the GO Bond ($800,000,000) and they are back asking for another extension on the 1% sales tax ONLY THIS TIME THEY WANT IT FOR 20 YEARS, NOT 5.

If you live in the streetcar TDD district get ready for higher property taxes, increased sales taxes on whatever you buy in the TDD and some homeowners will get assessments on their property, which is just another tax.

If you’re fed up, let your councilperson hear your voice. Email and call your council representative. A complete listing is attached.

  1. I guess the Go bonds didn't cover the cost of 7 billion worth of sewer repair. Now we need more money for Mike Burke's hotel.

What's a few hundred million between friends?

    1. KC = City of taxes? Absolutely. It wouldn't be so bad if all of the funds didn't go directly in the hands of developers and lawyers.

    2. Cost of living in KC isn't so affordable anymore when you factor in all of the fees and rates that keep rising.

Isn't water up at least 200% in the past 4 years?

  2. Seriously you people need to just move outside the city limits and get away from that crap. About 75 miles outside has worked really nice for us. Don't miss it or any of the city hall stupidity that came with living there.

    My. $510 a month, huh?

All this says to me is that Citizens For Responsible Government can't read all that well.
