JACKSON COUNTY LATE NIGHT TAX TROUBLE AFTERMATH: PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO LEGISLATOR DENNIS WAITS!!!
Our blog readers have been talking about this story since Tuesday morning. There were some insightful comments on this topic during the midday.
And now it's news fact . . .
KSHB: Jackson County legislator's tax history under investigation - County attorney starts probe on Dennis Waits
Deets:
"Jackson County Attorney Jean Peters Baker's spokesman Mike Mansur says the investigation opened Thursday but offered no further comment."
Don't expect a quick solution here and the next phase of this debate could turn toward the Missouri SecState . . . For now, a terse revelation from the courthouse and a laundry list of financial dox confronts the often overworked and understaffed Prosecutor's office.
Developing . . .
All he has to do is kill somebody and the prosecutor or a KCMo judge will let him walk.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Jean Petersucker Baker doesn’t investigate murders this aggressively. Fucking worthless incompetent bitch.
ReplyDeleteSo when do the investigations of Frank and Caleb start? And who has Caleb's truck keys right now?
ReplyDelete^^^ EXCELLENT Question.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Rev Carwash Cleaver can give him some tips about owing the government money without consequences.
ReplyDeleteIt says in part, "I hereby declare under penalties of perjury... that I am not currently aware of any delinquency in the filing of any state income taxes."
ReplyDeleteOldest Dodge in the world. "knowingly" He will blame an accountant, write a check, done deal.
^^^ Actually, that is really brilliant. Probably EXACTLY how it will play out. Bookmark this one because 4:21 knows his stuff.
ReplyDeletePoliticians never pay their back taxes until absolutely forced to. Nothing ever happens to them. There are no consequences for them. This is all fluff and tickle.
ReplyDeleteThere are two issues here. The lesser issue is whether Waits committed perjury. That would be the criminal offense that is under review by the prosecutor.
ReplyDeleteBut the greater (to me) issue is whether Waits was disqualified from the beginning from running for office, and if so whether he ever lawfully held the office to which he was elected. Assuming the taxes he owed when he ran for office was one covered by the statute, I think the better argument is that he was disqualified from running for or holding the office, and therefore all his acts in that office were void.
Here's the statute in question: "Any person who files as a candidate for election to a public office shall be disqualified from participation in the election for which the candidate has filed if such person is delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence, as stated on the declaration of candidacy, or if the person is a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state."
Considering Waits sits on the legislature that funds the prosecutors office, isn’t this quite a conflict of interest
ReplyDeleteI just think it is weird that Jean Peters Baker and Waits co-sponsored a fund raiser together and it is also common knowledge Baker gives Waits all kinds of court favors along with I believe he donated money to her campaign. Wouldn't you think an ethical prosecutor would step away from the issue instead of staying involved to fix the issue for Waits.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't this old fuck in Florida enjoying the money he stole in the 1960s ?
