COURTHOUSE INSIDER: 'EGO RUINED HIS POLITICAL CAREER BEFORE IT STARTED!!!' JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE CONFRONTS LATEST SMACKDOWN FROM LEGISLATURE NOW MOVING TO STRIP HIS COMBAT ANTI-CRIME POWER AWAY!!!

Jackson County Executive Frank White didn't even bother to show up to the latest legislative session. In his absence his controversial veto of new Courthouse hires was was overridden by the Legislature.

The Independence Examiner has a great round-up and confirmation of these deets:

"The conflict between Jackson County legislators and County Executive Frank White Jr. grew again . . . Legislators overrode a veto by White, and they started the process of taking a high-profile anti-drug program away from control by his office."

During an EPIC local 2017 crime spike . . . Removing COMBAT from the control of the Jackson County Executive threatens to be the final nail in the coffin for Frank White's political career.

And while perspective on the deets of public meetings is important, here's the more important take on the topic from a Courthouse Insider . . .

"Frank's political career is essentially finished and it's all because of his HUGE ego. That's unfortunate but his fighting with the Legislature has put the County in gridlock and he hasn't really proposed a solution. The Legislature is attempting to keep the County running while the Executive simply wants people to kiss his ring."

Best of all . . .

"What nobody is remembering that while Frank is ranting about government waste and hiring while trying to get the moral high ground on staffing issues, only last year his son was hired by the ATA in a high paid and very questionable role and with very few qualifications . . ."

A forecast of how this plays out from here . . .

Courthouse Insider: "Given the current state of gridlock . . . Don't expect the legislature to give him an inch on the budget. He might try another veto but they'll just come back and override him again. Sad thing is, all of this could have been avoided if Frank would've simply taken a more active role in doing his job and keeping the Legislators involved in the conversation. He's still not showing up to meetings and that signals to everyone that he doesn't want to learn. Going forward, if the Executive keeps going down this path. He doesn't have a future at the County."

  1. This is what happens to a political puppet without anybody to pull his strings. Frank was never qualified for the job and now without Nutter doesn't have any guidance. The inmates are literally in charge of the prison in Jackson County.

  4. It really doesn't matter to residents who's in charge and makes decisions about COMBAT or other spending at the JaCo courthouse.
What's best for the residents is way way down the list of priorities and what comes first is based on friends, contributors, usual grifters, insiders, and others of WHOEVER is making the decisions.
    Only the names change.

  5. That bullshit Frank White is spreading about wasteful spending on needless hires really stinks given the people he's hired and also getting his son that job at the KCATA.

Frank's got around a half dozen chiefs and deputy chiefs, a seven person PR staff, and hired a six figure consultant who fucked up Assessment again this year. Then there's the waste of money for however much the county is paying Frank himself.

  6. Love how Frank White is a no show at the legislative meetings. He just keeps issuing those terrible statements that he no doubt isn't the one writing.

  8. Frank's ego was on full display when he said he was so desperately needed in this office. What Jackson County needs is a county executive who has a clue what he's doing.

  9. The only thing debatable at this point is who is the bigger prick, Frank or his son. I've met them both and just wow. What a pair of arrogant A-holes.

  10. Too bad, he can never say that he didn't get his shot. Such a shame that he blew it with bad advice and his own arrogance.

  11. Can a County Exec be impeached or do we have to ride out his incompetence?

  13. What the hell makes people think has-been athletes are qualified to do anything more than ribbon cuttings and sports analysis? Electing this boon to public office was about as responsible as choosing a retired cab driver to perform your triple bypass surgery. KCMO’s voters are one bunch of dumbasses to be sure.

  14. Two words: Caleb Clifford. Clifford who has a black name but is white farm boy from Iowa has caused much of this havoc and chaos. Frank needs to show him the door and hire someone with real government skill. Find a group of retired City Managers like Sanders did who know what they are doing. But Frank may go down with Caleb because he is just so stubborn and ego driven and can’t admit he made a bad hire.

  15. @ 7:20 But it's not just Caleb Clifford. Angie Jeffries and Miriam Hennosy need to be sent packing, too, along with that new public information officer.
