TKC QUESTION: DOES BURNS & MAC DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE AFTER KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT BIDDING FAIL?!?

A couple of weeks ago our TKC BLOG COMMUNITY WAS FIRST TO PREVIEW THE BURNS & MAC CHALLENGE against a bid process they lost . . . Thanks for their greed and Mayor Sly's clumsy debut of their plans.

Just as we noted previously . . .

BURNS & MAC DESPERATELY WANTS A DO OVER!!! SHOULD THE GET ANOTHER CHANCE???

If "the smartest guys in the room" screwed up something as easy as a rigged City Hall bid . . . It's hard to imagine that they wouldn't also ruin a billion dollar project.

However, they did ruin the chance at a lot of local work for a great many contractors . . .

Check the links and tell us what you think as Council & The Mayor tread carefully in order to avoid jail time to this completely busted process . . .

  1. Absolutely NOT.

There are enough ethical conflicts in this process already. Maybe we should think about renovation instead.

But for now, let the voters decide on this process. That's the only way to clean it up!

  2. It's amazing KC gets anything done! When will this city and or School District ever move quickly and proactively?

  3. No way Buttfuck & McDouche gets another chance. There has been zero honesty from the city or B&M in this entire fiasco. The best thing to do is vote no and then elect an honest mayor

  4. 7:38 +100000000

  5. Remember that Burns and Mac tried to shove a no-bid contract DOWN OUR THROATS!

  6. The more B &M drag this is out the more the average Joe is inclined to give city hall the middle finger and vote NO.

  7. If they spent as much time on a worthwhile proposal as they did politicking, knocking on doors, holding pep rallies or slamming everyone who was against them they would have won. Learn that lesson and walk away.

  8. B&M gave it their best shot and lost! Live with it!
If they didn't give their first try the best effort they possibly could, then they didn't try to do they best for us, and don't deserve another try!

However, the KC voters can act to settle this question as well as any others that may arise.

VOTE NO!! PUT THE "NO" BACK IN NOVEMBER!

Then B&M's whiny little mewling will be totally mooted, as will the Mayor and the entire Damn Council!

  10. Move along folks, nothing to see here. Sure the city agreed to spend just shy of a million dollars on Husch and its cronies in the last few months. Sure they may have given some bad advice. Sure they might have gotten in over their heads. Sure there's going to be lawsuits out the ass no matter what happens at this point. Sure the election is in doubt, I mean who the hell can vote yes in good conscience on a Billion dollar project when the city can't even select a contractor without getting itself in trouble. If only we'd let the city do the no-bid deal. Or if only the city had handled the procurement right from the start rather than throwing away the best chance we may have in another decade or longer to get a decent airport. If only. I guess we'll never know what might have been. Sad thing is the city probably does need a new terminal. Too bad it's such a fucking disaster.

  11. Sly screwed the pooch on this one. He was too smart for his own good.

  12. Burns &'Mac bribed the Mayor and a few City Councilpeople in an attempt to steal a no bid $1 Billion contract, got caught and now they they want to whine about the process. Send the "Hometown Team" to jail!!! Lock em up!!!!!

  13. Here is what should happen- especially since the airport as-is shows it is one of the most efficient airports in getting people in and out:
    1. A new coat of paint. Have all the top engineering firms donate employment for a good weekend of old fashion painting.
    2. Install self-serve vending machines and Honor Snacks.

This will work great and we can use all the extra money from the vending to help out old people who can no longer afford KC Water bills.

With the 24 million tourists/visitors last year- old people might be able to survive until the earnings tax is raised to compensate. Hopefully by then Uncle Rex can show the bow-tie guy what an idiot tax and spend people are.

Do fuzzy math visitor numbers include internet visitors?

City Hall may be is disarray with ideas... but eventually one will be brilliant. You just have to wonder what decade or century that will happen.

  14. No. Burns has had plenty of bites at the apple. Stop acting like a twiddled.

  15. The only thing keeping burned and mcdouche afloat is all the projects the city hired them to do for the last five years. No mas!

  16. Save KCI!

Here's how to approach it: Allocate $100 million to remodel critical aspects of Twrminal B, such as putting enough bathrooms behind security and maybe routing for security and anything else security-related. Then, with what's left over, build a second story expansion to the Burger King food court and put that behind security. Re-install the light, beautiful wood floors to brighten the ticketing area back to what it was. Oh, put in seats and consoles with chargers; they should be pretty cheap now. Finally, add a VIP subscription or $50 one time entry venue for crony capitalists on expense accounts, with open bar, deluxe bathrooms, big TVs, finger food, similar to the airline lounges in big city airports. Want to win hearts?--put in a smoking den full of smoke somewhere, with an entry fee equivalent to the price of a pack of cigarettes.

PS Institute a rule that airport parking security personal should tag and visually inspect every car every day.

Vote no on the boondoggle, please, to get to a remodel later.

  17. Burns and Mac are in their deluded Chamber bubble. They don't realize along with Sly being oblivious to the public thinks their methods suck. They want to go right back to fix and political machinations, which makes them as tone deaf as the Kansas City machine who were going along with this. The public said no, next time they will say hell no.

  18. answer to question is -- NO

  19. They promise if we will grab ankle again they will pull out next time. Trust me.
