TKC EXCLUSIVE QUESTION!!! KANSAS CITY STREETCAR EXTENSION TO BERKLEY RIVERFRONT PARK: RIGGED DEVELOPMENT SCHEME OR TOY TRAIN TO NOWHERE?!?!

Council and toy train cheerleaders seem enthusiastic about yet another toy train extension without Kansas City voter consent.

There are interesting plans that have been recently endorsed.

But one question lingers . . .

BERKLEY RIVERFRONT PARK IS BEST KNOWN FOR TURNING UP DEAD BODIES SO WHO IS GOING TO RIDE THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR DOWN THERE?!?!

The answer: There's a great deal of luxury living space, retail and various corporate welfare included in this scheme . . . But for NOW . . . There are a few festivals down by the river but for most of the year it's pretty much a dangerous wasteland that's home to hobos passing through and where more than a few people have died waiting for help.

And so, we ask our blog community if streetcar enthusiasts aren't guilty of believing their own hype when it comes to the power of the fixed to attract biz growth in the real world and beyond press releases celebrating more tax breaks and government handouts to already rich lawyers and consultants.

You decide . . .

  1. This is why the special election is so important on August 8th. Telling the council that they can't keep planning the streetcar without public input is a MUST!

  3. And how much would it cost to simply have some motorized free trolleys doing a loop from Richard Berkley Park to the 3rd and Grand stop in River Market?

  4. To steal a line...another Godfather of Fantasy running rampant. Reality has no Ego here. All that money makes the palm itchy and fingers get twitching , then minions gather gleefully to the bidding of their precious, metal jangle side to side as the pace quickened! Let's build a train going nowhere. Voters be damn. They are cockroaches and rats to our dreams of millions of dollars. Let them eat donuts. It's hot. They will kill each other off anyway. We'll just sell the body organs first. They used to give out fans. Old folks like me would not talk crazy from heat stroke ...sorry folks....no place safe to go for shelter. But we have a train going nowhere?

  5. "PortKC"!
    Hahahahahaha!!
Just another mysterious totally unaccountable band of grifters living high off the taxpayer. What if all that casino money actually were spent on something that benefited the residents?
And now they're in the subsidy/TIF business.
    The circus continues.

  13. RETRO' Memories !!!

for those that remember the 1990 to 1993 original plan for that particular plan before it became River front park,,,,,

the CITY touted how there was going to be 3 CASINO'S all built within walking distance along that particular area what is now River Front Park

They even included a Fancy drawing or sketch they had drawn up by some architect that was published in the KC Star back then and presented to the citizens of KC.

    What Happened ??????

Well the CASINO's are definitely "NOT" within walking distance of each other at the location specified in the Original plan back in the early 1990's.

Lotta HYPE, Rhetoric, illusions and bullshit was SOLD to the Public .

about like that 18th Vine Jazz District HYPE crapola that 1 council member back then stated that it'd be such an attraction that people from ALL OVER the WORLD will be coming here to see it,,,,, Really ???

about like that Kansas City Power Light District that the TAX Payers on on the hoof for every year, because its NOT self supporting as they said it would be, as reported here at TONYS KC many times as well as the KC Business Journal .

Smoke & Mirrors people, followed up with HYPE & Rhetoric to eventually soak the TAX Payers again, and again, and again,,,,,

  16. Berkley Park sits on a toxic landfill. They want to build housing in that area. The first time the wind blows from the north, everyone will get that stench from the Ingredion plant. Once you smell it, you won't forget it.
