In a recent high profile Kansas City murder case, 27 year-old Janina Vasquez went missing and was tragically discovered dead in a well at Berkley Riverfront Park days later.

- Reports reveal Jania regained consciousness and made a desperate emergency call during her last hours.
- She didn't know where she was, her underwear was gone and her clothes were disheveled. She told the person on the other end of the phone that she could only see a light from above and was trapped.
- Her mobile phone pinged by a search by police and fire failed to locate her. Her location was mistakenly traced to the river market. Days later she was found by water department employees. She froze to death and did not die from injuries from any suspected abductors.

KANSAS CITY IS BEING CALLED OUT FOR FAILING TO DO ENOUGH TO FIND THIS YOUNG WOMAN WHO DID BEGGED FOR HELP AS SHE WAS DYING!!!
Now, questions are starting to emerge about how missing persons are located, why there was not more coordination and why better tech wasn't employed . . . For instance, heat sensors or other advanced equipment used to find people underground like she told a person on the phone . . .

ReplyDeleteIF this is true, someone needs to lose their job over this. Even if the cell phone ping was wrong Berkeley Park is close enough to be in the search area. With dogs, helicopters, and police academy recruits, she should have been found. Hopefully this report is false, but if it is true the Chief and commander of Investigations need to go.
ReplyDeleteWell depending on the weather which I recall it was snowing and windy the helicopter wouldn't fly for any incident. Plus at that time the police academy just started a class three weeks prior and would have only had about 9 recruits to offer up.

She was at Kansas City’s wonderful and vibrant Isle of Capri Casino. Her ride left without her and she stood out front, waving down cars for a ride home. Apparently some wonderful and vibrant City Kansasizen offered her a lift.

To all the KCPD / KCMO cheerleaders who doubt the veracity of the information, I'd day the appropriate take-away for the average reader is not that Tony must lying. The appropriate take-away is that, whether the information is correct or complete fabrication, we can't trust the Star or other local media to investigate, much less report. The Star can't say a word, as we're all pretty sure that refrain from criticism is likely part of the back-room deal that landed them another tax break worth MILLIONS, and the other local outlets are no better. There's not a station in town willing to lead the pack and will only report once it's reached a critical mass that can't be ignored (unless it involves puppies or teen JoCo girls).

The tip, which likely came from the girls mother, does not translate into a storey (from Tony) that passes the smell test. The 6 W's are missing and Tony isn't reporting he is speculating. Clearly he has no facts, but seems to want to lead others to make them up with his inferences.
