FEAR THE NEW NORMAL IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Quick round-up of how Kansas City news played out this week and local tends becoming all too commonplace . . .

- This week a TRIPLE MURDER didn't really shock anyone given increasing gang violence the steadily rising homicide count over the past two years. There's a CRIME CRISIS in Kansas City that's putting us on a path toward more than 130 murders this year and no one has really raised an alarm.

- Kansas City convention hotel developers BRAZENLY BYPASSED VOTERS with the help of the Mayor and most of the City Council in a direct affront to local Democracy and few if any social media political activists even noticed. Like it or not, insiders can borrow $35-MILLION from City Hall with no questions asked!!! Meanwhile there are even fewer checks and balances on this project and no public confirmation of solid private investor or bond broker support.

- Organized labor leaders pushed a no-bid airport dead, pouted when that effort FAILED and now want to bully their way into public office despite declining memberships, less money, less public support amid changing demographics of the Northland. Good luck.

Meanwhile, locals seem exceptionally interested in Beltway gossip and the ongoing culture war while they mostly neglect what's happening in their own backyard.

  1. Sad state of affairs. Doesn't look like this weekend is going to make it any better.

  2. KCPD says KCMO is safe.
    Move along.
At KCPD it's business as usual.

  3. Know people who just moved here from NY and other Major City's because of jobs.

Most are thinking... Oh jesus what the hell have I got myself into now.

  4. In KCMO the bond issues passed, money is being moved from how it's supposed to be spent into newly-created accounts, and the trough is always full.
So come on down to 12th and Oak and elbow, push, and shove your way toward the front of the line.
But hurry! Even the new $800 million won't last very long.
60 murders so far this far this year, $100/month water bills, crappy streets, and all the rest.
All someone else's problem and fault.
So onward and upward with Mike's hotel, lay off faculty and staff at UMKC and build an arts campus downtown, keep the underhanded "momentum" going on the airport terminal, and propose not one, but TWO extensions for the empty streetcar.
    KCMO is on the move!
Except for the people who live here, pay the bills, and will be stuck with hundreds of millions in debt as far as the eye can see.

  9. The current Airport is fine. Maybe it's a little "blue collar" but people need to take care of their personal pilots better.

  13. Kansas City is a fucking shithole and it getting worse. The similarities between Detroit and Kansas City are astonishing, they are just a year or so ahead of us. Their mayor was convicted and ours will be. Detroit went bankrupt and our City will be bankrupt too. The schools and literacy rate are horrible, we might be worse. The crime rate in both cities is horrible. Corruption in both places.

We could fix this. But we are too afraid of being politically incorrect to address our crime problem and call it what it is. I don't see any hope for this city. There are no strong leaders that care enough about the city and its residents.

When the residents of a town stand by and allow this kind of killing to go on it makes you wonder just really what kind of people live there. Sure glad none of them are my neighbors.

  15. the White people in KC who STILL vote Democrat are to blame.

  19. 6:43 and 9:11 are spot on . Any normal human being can get it . Waz it gunna hump take for those whacked out KILLA CITY residents that are brave enough to keep living there to demand a safe place to exist ? Perhaps they should all be armed with several guns and be tactical trained on how to use them ?¿
