TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! INSIDERS DEMAND STREETCAR SYSTEM AUDIT AMID INCREASING FEAR OF TOY TRAIN ON TRACK TO DISASTROUS CRASH!!!

In less then a year the Kansas City streetcar has been subject to constant breakdowns, service interruptions and delays.

And now . . .

KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDER WITNESS TRENDING TOY TRAIN STREETCAR TROUBLE THREATENING LOCAL STREETS!!!

Check this EXCELLENT bit of testimony that offers an important perspective and NEWSIE EVIDENCE of a pattern beginning to emerge which threatens disaster in KCMO . . .

"The Seattle Streetcar had an electronic failure last month which sent it skidding two and a half blocks without brakes, but surprisingly, no one was hurt. It's been shut down indefinitely and there is a dispute between the city and the manufacturer regarding who is responsible for the repairs. This is the same streetcar who's tracks resulted in the death of a cyclist last year.

"But even *more* concerning is that the Cincinnati streetcar, which is the exact same model built by the exact see manufacturer at the exact same time as #kcstreetcar and is now experiencing "catastrophic" systems failures. We know there were several problems with our streetcar the first week, but I'm wondering if we've conducted an audit of the systems to ensure that a runaway train doesn't fly off the rails and go careening into a crowd of pedestrians on First Friday. I think someone should be demanding that city hall take a serious look at this.

"Apparently the problems they are having are related to the compressor, which is what allows the streetcar to brake. It sounds like a problem similar to what sent the Seattle Streetcar skidding 2.5 blocks. I rode the #kcstreetcar last year a few hours before they shut it down due to heavy rains and it was having problems braking that evening. I am extremely concerned that our streetcars could be experiencing the same problems as Seattle and Cincinnati, and I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything about it."

Tragically, because the Kansas City toy train streetcar was established by what some call "the most corrupt election in history since the Pedergast era" . . . There is little room for public questions, discourse or debate on this topic. Instead, locals are subject to nothing but constant promotional hype that is only occasionally interrupted by low ridership numbers, hobos throwing rocks at the streetcar and fender benders that hopefully aren't leading up to something worse.

Either way, at this point Kansas City has been warned of the real life danger whilst despicable streetcar supporters have refused to engage in any real conversation regarding this threat.

  1. streetcar broke down on the first day. Remember that?

I will give them some credit. They are quick to pull the plug and stop the line, your commenter even wrote as much. Better safe then sorry or possibly kill somebody.

The streetcar is a nice tourist attraction but nobody needs to die for it. And I will say that this puts some of the recent crashes in a clearer light.

    1. Of course the streetcar people don't want a conversation. The don't like the debate anything, that's why the rig their votes. Whenever they have people show up to the ballot they are voted down. It's only the small mail-in ballots that passed this thing in the first place, that's why they're trying it again.

What's worse is that KC is paying for these guys to be on twitter all day promoting the thing.

    2. Streetcar is last year.

It was a good idea but Trump and the republcan't legislature don't seem to want to fund it. KC needs to work on building that monument to Kay Barnes, that will really bring more people downtown.

  2. Where's the love ? We took the streetcar last w/end to the Blue Line for drinks, then Anton's for steaks, and then back to Crown Center. It was packed. It was a blast. It is here to stay. Stop wasting your time and energy complaining about it over and over again.

Does anyone have a blog site suggestion that is more positive ?

    1. Clearly the streetcar is here to stay, although we're likely a decade from any possibility of UMKC expansion. The point is that we want the 2.2 mile route to remain successful, which would include ensuring that it is safe, because we wouldn't want anyone to die by the streetcar, and we wouldn't want to shut it down for weeks because of a malfunction. That's what is happening with streetcars in other cities.

    2. C'mon Stadler, we all know Tony licks himself nightly over the sheer potential of someone dying on the streetcar. Remember those silly posts about someone getting electrocuted?

How are your shitty mutt kids?

  3. 3:00, a Streetcar expansion has to be about getting people to jobs, not just getting people to and from restaurants. Mass transit is about jobs. The Streetcar is just a fun ride for people who are afraid to ride a bus.

  4. And while they're auditing the Streetcar, how about an independent company to audit the fake ridership numbers?

  5. Maybe we should change the name of the Royals to the Trolley Dodgers. Surely that hasn't been taken yet, has it?

  6. Only in a little deteriorating mid-west cow town can a 2-mile carnival ride become the topic of such fake excitement, over-hyped claims, and endless discussion.
A TWO-MILE amusement park ride to nowhere.
    It's cutting edge "transit"!
    It's eco devo!
    The city that never sleeps!
If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere!
    Hahahahahaha!!

  7. If you want an audit of the streetcar, there is already a mechanism in place. The proposed audit of the water department can very easily be expanded to include this once enough signatures are in place. http://AuditKC.com

  8. The water company audit is more important there is cash disappearing extortion of there customers 5 years from now you will be paying 209 dollars a month

  9. maybe it can become a true amusement park thrill ride.
