While i don't think the average "denizens" get on top of ladders during their commute downtown, the blight caused by the wires is unsightly and something that voters didn't see until the final phases. If they want to do run another line down main, they need to be honest with the public about what to expect.

  2. "respect the rail" has got to be one of the stupidest slogans Kansas City has ever seen.

  3. Limited benefit? Streetcar is probably the BEST thing downtown has going for it. Too much negativity here, KC has a winner in the streetcar and we should look to expand it.

  4. If the streetcar is the bet thing downtown KCMO has going for it, all this debt has been taken on for a lot less than anyone could have imagined.
Some bad news: The millenials are soon going to be in their thirties and looking for safe neighborhoods, good schools, and back yards for the kids to play in. They can make a trip downtown to let the kids see what a train ride is like, but I'm not sure that's going to be a big economic boost.
    So write off this fad.
    How's the new hotel coming?

  5. Trying to pass off the street car as being like a train is like telling your kids Caitlyn Jenner is really a woman.

  6. David Johnson is already preparing his push to expand this piece of crap not only to UMKC, but North Kansas City.

Hard to believe how many people actually such up this guys stuff.

You went over the edge on this issue a long time ago Tony. Your credibility on this is somewhere lower than Funkhouser's general credibility when he left town.

  8. ^^ James or an idiot James supporter. Either way a total loser.

  9. So we're gonna pass another streetcar plan?

I guess that's where my e-tax is going.

    No thank you.

  10. 611 and 624 illuminate a big point with the "Denizens".

That is, "anonymous" whiners who know shit about municipal dept and best practices in government finance spend huge amount of angst bitching about budget and cost when they really only know a few buzzwords (i.e., carpet bombing) that they fling out to try to sound informed.

What's "all this debt", or "a lot less"?

To be honest, I was indifferent on the streetcar issue. But now the ship has sailed, and to continue to whine and bitch is counterproductive. If I wanted to do that, I would quit my job and start a blog in my parents home and spin information in a manner to surround myself with similar losers.

Tony should (by never will) post a link to the Stages of Loss, because he, and his almighty, never named, Denizens, can't get past anger.

Go Chiefs. I hate New England.

  11. Why don't we drop back a few decades earlier than streetcars and go for horses and buggies. Think of all of the jobs sweeping up horseshit!

  12. 8:02 - Stages of loss? Like the loss of the streetcar expansion effort?

You can win an election you don't gerrymander Mesa boy. Hope you like your new job in the basement.

  13. The argument of overhead lines as a limited factor for expansion and development is pretty weak

  14. Also, be very careful if you're raising a ladder to fight a fire.

  15. @941, everyone who sees things different than you is Mensa Boy?

If you say "yes", no point in even wasting band width. PLUS, that will make you right every single time.

Must be amazing in your alternative reality.

  18. This is such a no brainer I can not believe Tony didn't think of it. First off there is no need to spend millions installing overhead wiring. Simply put large capacity electrical sockets on the back of the train and then you go down to the Jackson Country Courthouse and get the names of everyone who has been paroled or received probation for copper theft. You then make them run behind the train holding up the electrical power cables. Now sure a convicted couple of coons are gonna get zapped in the rain storms, but look at the millions we will save in not having to keep an eye on these convicted thieves. They will be able to work off their debt to society and might even learn that crime doesn't pay.

  19. WIRES ???

Didn't need any Wires to run that Train, shows just how stupid MAYOR SLY JAMES really is !!

    Benefits :

    1 : it'll give them Jobs

2: Keep them busy and NOT committing crimes

3: again, give them a Job

4: cut down on violence & shootings

5: they'll actually have to pull their pants up, so as NOT to Trip while pushing TOY TRAIN !

7: it'll keep the Thugs, Homie Gangsta's and Hoodrats off the streets, sorta.

  20. Overhead high voltage lines? I have never heard of that in my life, I'll have to go downtown to see them. By the way, 750 volts is not "high voltage" when compared to electrical distribution lines.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We already have a great MAX bus line going up and down Main Street to River Market. Goes faster than a streetcar and has no fixed rails or overhead wires. But Millennials are afraid to take a bus so the City needs to spend millions to give them a toy train.
