Look At God's Luxury Golden Ghetto House

We talked about this earlier in the year and some denizens of our blog community lamented the world's largest and most expensive stained glass window . . . Here's a peek inside from the KC Biz Journal:

Church of the Resurrection completes new sanctuary [PHOTOS] - Kansas City Business Journal

The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection began building its new 3,500-seat sanctuary in 2014, and now, just in time for Easter, the church is ready to unveil the new addition to its 76-acre Leawood campus. Since being founded in 1990, the Church of the Resurrection has become the largest United Methodist Church in the U.S.

  3. Kansas is broke according to the local newspaper. But when I drive around and see things like this plus lush residential areas, it doesn't look broke.

    1. Nah. This is showboating. Cathedrals were community centers, educational institutions, and refuges, among many other things.

  8. 11:55 a.m. might want to take a look outside of the 135th street corridor. KS is a fucking mess. Just look at northern JoCo, Olathe, the Dotte, Topeka, Wichita, the entire western half of the state, etc.

It's al little showy, I mean couldn't they have used recycled shipping containers?

  10. Are those speakers in front of the stained glass window? It's all about the show.

The cathedrals of Europe were built over generations. Men spent their entire lives working on something they knew they would never see completed, let alone use. It was done for the glory of God, not themselves.

  12. Call me old fashioned, but there's something that just seems "unchurch-like" when the structure resembles a state-of-the-art concert hall, stained glass or not.
