TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY AIRPORT CONSULTANTS KEEP CASHING BIG CHECKS DESPITE SINGLE-TERMINAL CRASH & BURN!!! HOW SHOULD WE MOVE FORWARD?!?
Earlier this year we noted some MASSIVE airport spending amid a doomed single-terminal plan and now the totals keep piling up . . .
"To date consultants have collected $9,164,044. Since the first of the year, they have received $406,131.26."
Accordingly . . .
CHECK THIS PLAN TO MOVE FORWARD ON THE AIRPORT DESPITE THE SINGLE TERMINAL FAIL!!!
This KCMO tax fighter effort hopes to keep the convenience but offer some upgrades. Take a look:
CFRG is proposing a plan to go forward:
1.) Stop any and all payments to airport consultants mentioned above. The mayor has stopped the single terminal program he was working on so it’s time to send the consultants packing. There is no need to pay them any longer. These funds can be better used.
2.) Use some of the money we have been spending on consultants to set up new airport presentations city wide: First present to the Chamber of Commerce, then public hearings Northland, Midtown and South KC and the Eastside, to showcase the single terminal proposal and the fully remodeled airport proposed by Crawford Architects in association with Woods Bagot, Charles Cammack or perhaps other proposals. These independent companies and individuals have designed their presentations and produced brochures at their own costs. Let’s give them some of this consultant money to fine tune their proposals and make public presentations. Then let the public have input to express feelings they have for either project. What would they like to see in their new airport? We have local Architects, Engineers, Designers and Builders perfectly capable of handling this.
3.) Remove Jolie Justus from the Chair position on the Airport Committee of the City Council. Her view is biased and no longer relevant. She has proven she cannot be fair minded where this project is concerned. Replace her with Katherine Shields, Alissia Canady, Heather Hall, or Quinton Lucas. If the new Chair cannot be objective, we will call for their removal also.
4.) Engage Pat Klein, Aviation Director, to take part in the process. If he is unwilling to do so, have the City Manager begin an immediate nationwide search for a new experienced Aviation Director who is open minded and willing to listen to the voting public. Remember, these people work for us so the very least they should be willing to do is work with us.
While some of the airlines have suggested they are not interested in working further on this project, we believe once they see the project going forward in a positive tone, they will be glad to participate.
We solicit your help in moving this plan forward. We ask you to contact the Mayor, City Manager and Councilpersons endorsing the CFRG plan and thank you for your continued support...

You decide . . .
KC is all about shiny new things.
ReplyDeleteIf the mayor backed out, I wouldn't expect anything new to happen. Now it's about making sure the next mayor is honest about plans for the airport since this mayor wasn't.
While we vote, the chamber figures out how to nullify our ballots and our voice.
ReplyDeleteFriends of politicians and City Hall management are getting paid for no work...as usual. This is the way the political crime machine operates in city government. Consultant contracts to friends and family.
ReplyDeleteWe move forward by bitching, making unsubstantiated accusations, disgusting personal attacks, and ripping on women and minorities.
ReplyDeleteRight? Just like always?
yeah, shocker. This situation has a name: tuesday in Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteJust like always.

ReplyDeleteHolly demonstrates the air turbulence I can expect if joining her for a layover!!!
on my way to vote this morning. The lying crooks keep us busy pretending it matters. Just like always.
ReplyDeleteKCI should have been built where the stadiums were built.stadiums should have been built where Kemper was built..JMO.
ReplyDeletea result of lawless, inept leadership.
ReplyDeletejust like at every other level of government right now.
Unelected.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor never dropped the idea. He saw that the timing was bad. So, like the sneak he is he will wait like a vulture and when he sees an opening he will cram the airport plan down the tax payers' throats like they never saw it coming. In the end he will win, the people who actually pay taxes will whine and the mayor will get exactly what he wants. As long as the couch potato white boys stay too lazy to vote this pattern will never end.
ReplyDeletethere's too much opposition for anything related to a new terminal to ever pass.
ReplyDeletethe opposition would also be more motivated to vote in this case than the proponents.
so how could it happen in the foreseeable future?
Who are these consultants related to at City Hall?
ReplyDeleteConsultants are friends of Congressman, friends of the Mayor, friends of City Management and connected to various Council persons to insure support at the council level.
ReplyDeleteThe single terminal is the single worst idea kansas City has ever had.
ReplyDeleteLet's see some detail of where the $9 Million went!!
ReplyDeleteNAME NAMES!!!!
Doesn't take too much effort. We know Mr. Stephens must have made some pretty great money to clean up the mess that Russ Johnson and Van Loh left. Come to think of it, he probably deserves it. At least the new airport consultants aren't so combative.
ReplyDeleteJust another sly james folly.
