Just a bit of panic last last night at MCI inspires a bit of contemplation.
What did we learn from the latest Kansas City Airport bomb scare???
The current terminal layout works better in times of crisis
The feds say that a single-terminal won't improve security but it's a fact that when one terminal shuts down in Kansas City for whatever reason . . . The remaining terminals can stay open. And there's already room for capacity at the terminal they're trying to scuttle.
Kansas City Is Not A High Value Target
Neither ISIS nor Osama's ghost can find Kansas City on map . . . The idea of international terror coming to Kansas City should remind readers of the old school "red scare" propaganda that the military industrial complex used to keep people in line and ultimately sacrifice nearly an entire generation of young men in Vietnam.
Building An Airport As A Tourist Attraction Is A Horrible Idea
New airport designers somehow believe they're going to make waiting in an airport a more pleasurable experience . . . While a strip club within walking distance might do the trick. Waiting on a delayed plane is NEVER going to be something that travelers enjoy.
And here's more links about last night's scare:
Police search KCI Terminal B after bomb threat
Bomb threat at Kansas City International Airport
Passengers at KCI evacuated from Terminal B after bomb threat
Developing . . .
KC may not be a high value Target. That only means we probably won't have a catastrophe like 9/11 in NY. That doesn't mean some off the wall local person won't become radicalized and do something crazy like in other places.
ReplyDeleteI fail to see how a $1billion dollar plus new airport terminal would deter a home-grown terrorist. All it means is higher taxes, parking and landing fees at KCI.....and more potential for financial failure of the whole scheme if the economy goes south.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Trump rally when the theatre was evacuated after a bomb threat.
ReplyDeleteSooo??? If it was really a bomb and it went off it would probably be caused by the KCMO City Council so they could get their single terminal faster.
