TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITY HALL AND MAYOR SLY LOSING KANSAS CITY BUDGET BATTLE 2015 ATTEMPT 'RUMOR PAGE' SPIN!!!
Without question, community reaction to so many Kansas City neighborhood budget cuts has been overwhelmingly negative.
Mayor Sly has been booed and insulted in public meetings and City Council incumbents are facing very real hits to their chances at reelection.
To wit . . .
DESPERATE TO SPIN OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE KANSAS CITY SENTIMENT . . . MAYOR SLY AND CITY HALL HAVE CREATED A "RUMOR PAGE" TO TRY AND EXPLAIN THEMSELVES!!!
This is a response to a community document that was posted first on TKC and now circulates throughout neighborhoods and powers recent criticism.
Take a look:
City Hall KCMO: The Rumor Page
Better still . . . Let's fact check the most blatant spin on Kansas City budget cuts and misplaced City Hall priorities.
Kansas City Hates Swope Soccer Park
"The operating expenses proposed for the new Swope Soccer Village are offset by the projected revenues (from field rental fees and sponsorships), both estimated at $1M. Both the estimated expenses and revenues are within the Parks and Recreation fund and not the general fund. As such, this program does not negatively impact any other program or fund."
Wrong. That's a classic mischaracterization of complaints that hinge on the fact that nobody but Council Lady Cindy Circo wanted this place. Also, parks programs that people are using are getting cut while this vanity deal remains a priority. Finally . . . No word about the lack of minority contractors on this project pushed down the throats of residents.
Attempting To Quiet Rumors About The Busted Kansas City Budget And Our Feeble Bonds
"The City’s general obligation bond credit ratings from Standard and Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch remain unchanged at “AA”, “Aa2″, and “AA”, respectively, with stable outlooks."
WRONG!!! THE CITY'S BOND RATING HAS BEEN IN FLUX FOR YEARS AND THE NEW RATING WAS EARNED ONLY AFTER POLITICAL PRESSURE AND FOLLOWING A MASSIVE EFFORT TO INCREASE TAXES HALF A DOZEN TIMES WITH A COMMITMENT TO CONTINUE A STEADY SLATE OF TAX HIKES!!!
Finally . . .
The Mayor’s Office has increased its number of employees.
City Hall Spin: "The confusion is understandable. The city changed the way it accounts for contract positions, and the submitted budget does not fully explain that. Only one new position is being added: An Innovation Analyst in the Mayor’s Office of Innovation, which coordinates technological and business efficiencies citywide. The submitted budget for the Mayor’s Office is a slight reduction from the adopted budget for the current year, from $2.04 million to $2.02 million."
THEY'RE ACTUALLY ADMITTING THE STAFF INCREASE WHILE TELLING PEOPLE THEY'RE WRONG OR LIARS!!!
Moreover . . .
MAYOR SLY'S BUDGET FOR STAFF IS THE BIGGEST IN KANSAS CITY HISTORY!!!
Remember that Mayor Sly has been so frustrated by budget push-back that he's getting into shouting matches and name-calling at public meetings.
Clearly, this effort to control negative public sentiment around budget time isn't working. As the popularity of Mayor Sly and City Council incumbents reaches an all-time low as the election approaches.
Developing . . .
Hey, I thought this blog was the city hall rumor page? No wonder you're pissed TKC!
ReplyDeleteLOL
Hernandez isn't doing a very convincing job spinning away over there that's obvious.
ReplyDeleteOf course we can believe City Hall right?
ReplyDeleteLMAO!
How much taxpayer money the city blowing putting "artisan vending machines" in up at KCI?
ReplyDeleteThe machines features items from Kansas City-based artists, designers and producers — jewelry, artwork, T-shirts, specialty foods and other travel-sized mementos.
After you pay for soccer stadiums, streetcars, "chief innovation officer" salaries, the mayors office, and the police and fire department. what exactly does the city have left to provide ACTUAL CITY SERVICES for its residents? Oh, I think the answer is pretty simple. ZERO.
ReplyDeleteI ame to compliment the person who said "You spin like a yo-yo in a washing machine on a carousel, Tony, why should I trust you at all?" BUT I GUESS THE COMMENT WAS DELETED BY MISTER FREE SPEECH HUH
ReplyDeleteYou can dish it out but apparently you can't take it, pussy
what about all the rate increases in the water bill for water and sewer if they would use the mayors toy train budget our senior citizens wont have to buy dog food to eat
ReplyDeleteMr. Free Speech deleting comments again huh? Wow.
ReplyDeleteyes everything was "respectively, with stable outlooks" just before the economy went off the cliff in the fall of 08 also.
ReplyDeleteNobody deleted your comment whiny pants. If they would have, they would have deleted the comment where you bitched about it.
ReplyDeleteGet a better computer.
"You spin like a yo-yo in a washing machine on a carousel, Tony, why should I trust you at all?"
ReplyDeleteNobody is asking you to trust shit. Look at the city hall budget and see how well trusting Sly has gotten you.
ReplyDeleteSly lies to EVERYONE, not just his friends and reporters.
ReplyDeleteChis Hernandez really isn't so cute anymore when he's trying to defend the horrid Mayor. Too bad. He was such a nice guy.
ReplyDeleteLast night we heard that the city is freezing pay and possibly laying off police officers. We were also told that some sort of pension lawsuit is being filed against the city because of it. Don't know who wins, but it sounds like everyone loses in this issue.
ReplyDeleteShame on you Sly!

FALLING STAR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As called for in this blog comment space weeks ago, today The McClatchy Co., parent to the KC Star, reached our first target of $2.25 by closing Tuesday at $2.24/share.
The McClatchy Company (MNI)
-NYSE
2.24 Down 0.08(3.45%) 4:02PM EST
Our remaining target stands just below, at $2.13, the low from the week of April 28, 2013. Needless to say, if this level fails to provide support, then MNI could once again become a sub-$1.00 stock.
For a company that carries roughly ONE BILLION in debt, with a diminishing business model, with a falling stock price, and with the burden of the Star's Editorial Board.....things don't look bright!!!!!
3/3/15, 7:02 PM
.......
and lo and behold, what happened on Wednesday?
The McClatchy Company (MNI)
-NYSE
2.12 Down 0.12(5.36%) 4:02PM EST
SHOCKING?? NOT REALLY!!!!!
With a close at $2.12/share today, MNI has now reached our second target, and we have completed our profit-taking from this soon to be bankrupt company.
While we weep for the all the good people who work at the Star, we again point the finger of blame squarely at the members of the Editorial Board.
KC Star and McClatchy....RIP
Sly has bankrupted the city and the newspaper. Shame on him.
ReplyDeleteVote all these bums out.
ReplyDeleteThe Funkster looking really good about now.
Jazz at the Green Room should increase the Kansas City Bond Rating.
ReplyDelete7:22 hate to say it but yes I'd bring the Funk back. Sly needs to go with Cindy off in the sunset. This is the worst lying bunch of assholes we have ever had.
ReplyDeleteFUNK WINS
ReplyDeleteThe city manager is to blame, not SLY.
