TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! COMMUNITY OUTRAGE OVER MAYOR SLY AND CINDY CIRCO RIGGED 5TH DISTRICT COUNCIL SELECTION PROCESS!!!
Mayor Sly James and Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo have once again picked the wrong time to flex their political muscle.
Moreover . . . Kansas City community leaders RAGE over the fact that the selection process for a new city council member in the aftermath of the disgraceful Pastor Brooks resignation is so decidedly political.
One insider tells us:
"Why would the Mayor appoint someone who does NOT actually live in the 5th district to the committee to replace the 5th district council person?"
Another community leader shares concerns about the process . . .
"The Mayor and City Council-member Circo are bending the Charter to the breaking point. By using a commission of their appointees to find a new Council member, the undue influence of the Mayor's office over the new selection is clear. This process is mostly about the Mayor looking to wield even more control rather than make sure the 5th District is properly represented."

City Hall: Mayor James Announces 5th District Commissioners to Fill Council Vacancy
Fox4: "These commissioners, all of whom currently serve on municipal boards and commissions, will thoroughly review all applications and interview each applicant."
KMBZ: "The goal is to have those candidates ready to be interviewed by the mayor and council January 2nd and the new appointee on deck February 1st."
Now let's put this all together . . .
Remember that Mayor Sly has letter of resignation per-signed from all of his appointees . . . So in nearly all of their decisions they're completely beholden to him.
Worse still . . .
RATHER THAN WORKING TO HEAL KANSAS CITY AFTER A DISGRACEFUL EPISODE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT . . . MAYOR SLY HAS TURNED THE EFFORT TO FIND A NEW COUNCIL MEMBER INTO NOTHING MORE THAN A PETTY POWER PLAY!!!
Developing . . .
Same old Sly!
ReplyDeleteNothing new here same ole all about me, me bullshit from city hall.
ReplyDeleteand because no one is willing to put their name to their RAGE, it renders the whole post stupidly invalid.
ReplyDeleteAs Seen On The Inter Butt Tubes
ReplyDeleteGuess pre-signed resignation letters didn't turn out to be all that bad like you were hoping in 2012.
ReplyDeletePost some more links to Stories That Never Came True. Like how we were going to be overrun with Ebola by now. Remember that one?
More bullshit from Kansas City's Bullshit News Leader.
Yet you keep on reading this blog. Thanks for keeping up 9:36.
ReplyDeleteUntil we get rid of Sly and Cindy the 5th district will continue to be screwed, raped and pillaged to suit the desires of these two. They need to go immediately. Sick and tired of the abuse of power in city government. Make it stop.
ReplyDeleteI live in Kansas - am I eligible?
ReplyDeleteMost people in the metro, 84+% of who don't live in KCMO, and in fact, the majority of residents of KCMO, as judged by how few vote in city elections, could care less about all this inside baseball amateurish crap from the wannabee celebrities at 12th and Oak.
ReplyDeleteWhoever they choose will quickly morph into the same kind of brain-dead doofus already on the council, and will do as they're told by the usual suspects, just like the folks already there.
Outrage! Drama! Lights! Action!
Hahahahahahaha
Which one of the committee members does not live in the Fifth? I think they all do.
ReplyDeleteSly like a fox.
ReplyDeleteSly's scheme is worst than at-large voting for council seats. You got to be the dumber than the people of Kansas to allow this foolishness from a Mayor.
ReplyDeleteIts time Sly James elect a horse to the city council
ReplyDelete@1019, he reads with discretion you stupid ass rod.
ReplyDeleteStop fondling Tonys balls.
I thought we were supposed to be bitching about snow and marathons.
ReplyDeleteGreat! One crooked politician making up rules about how to remove another crooked politician. I guess that's what justice resembles here in Kansas City. It's no wonder people do not want to live here.
ReplyDeleteNothing new from Tony since 9:00. Did Jordan Carver update her website? If she did, don't expect anything new because Tony's wrist and elbow will hurt him too much to type.
ReplyDeleteTGR does not live in the 5th and she's running for council.
ReplyDeleteOne of the members of the commission lives downtown. A shame from City hall.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with living downtown when you have a felon on the commission.
DeleteWhy doesn't The Star cover local politics anymore?
ReplyDeleteKC is going down hill fast.
ReplyDeleteAt least they put a murderer on the panel, Ricardo Lucas. He did a lot of heavy lifting for Sly during the campaign.
ReplyDeleteVery lopsided on the housing development people. Could there be a lot of housing dollars ready to flow into the area? Why not just an ordinary citizen who lives in the district?
Modified last paragraph:
ReplyDeleteRATHER THAN WORKING TO HEAL KANSAS CITY AFTER A DISGRACEFUL EPISODE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT . . . MAYOR SLY HAS TURNED THE EFFORT TO FIND A NEW COUNCIL MEMBER INTO NOTHING MORE THAN A PETTY POWER PLAY UNDER HIS HEEL!!!
They should seriously just leave the position open until the April elections. There is no reason to bring someone in for four months. It's not like Brooks was doing anything other than being a distraction anyway
ReplyDeleteJeebuz, Paco complains for weeks about brooks and now that he is out, we hate the process to replace him.
ReplyDeleteI swear, you are like a bad partner in a downhill relationship. Nothing can satisfy you.
Better mental outlook on death row.
6:45 you are so right
ReplyDeletefucking shame. this used to be a worthwhile city.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know who does not live in the 5th District and where they actually live and receive their mail.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Muni Code online...
ReplyDeleteCouncil member. Any vacancy in the office of a member of the Council occurring after the end of the thirtieth month of a term shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the Mayor and Council.
(a)Length of term. All members of the Council, including the Mayor, will serve a term of four years, commencing August 1 following their election.
So.. The fill in will be getting a paycheck until July 31, 2015.
Brooks resignation is for Jan. 2, 2015. Guess he needed that January paycheck.
As I always say Kansas City is only a wannabe big city. We still act small town! Wtf
ReplyDeleteRicardo Lucas? Scraping the murderer felon barrel. Where's Ron Hunt? He should also be on this fake committee.
ReplyDeleteKC is officially low class. Thanks Mayor.
We had a felon on the Jackson County Legislature for years, Mr. Tindall, and no one seemed to care.
