All the way across the bridge we've got FIRST WORD of a bit of excitement surrounding one of Mayor Sly's staffers.
According To A KC Insider: "Jason Hodges will be the next Second District At-Large Council member. He'll do the work, he's got the energy, the brains, and is expert at working both sides of the aisle. And, he's no retread!"
In fairness, if/when he declares for certain . . . Mr. Hodges will face former Council Lady Teresa Loar who already has garnered the support of Former Mayor Kay Barnes among others.
But here's the inside scoop . . .
MORE THAN ANY OTHER RACE . . . THIS CITY COUNCIL CONTEST ACROSS THE BRIDGE WILL DETERMINE IF MAYOR SLY WILL BE ABLE TO SET HIS AGENDA FOR A SECOND TERM!!!
Like it or not, as time moves forward . . . The Northland becomes increasingly powerful in determining the fate of Kansas City proper.

Hodges is anything but a rubber stamp for the mayor. And when you talk to him, you don't have to worry there is a recording device hidden in his lapel.

ReplyDeleteHodges seems like a nice guy. I don't know if I want the mayor picking the council though, that seems like it could lead to trouble.
ReplyDeleteHodges might work for the mayor for now, but he's his own man. He's a fiscal conservative with solid relationships with many different groups who knows the way this city needs to be managed. He'll vote what's best for the Second District and the City. A vote for Hodges isn't a vote for Sly. It's a vote for Hodges, who is anything but an amateur.
ReplyDeleteLoar was part of the group that brought us Renaissance North and many other bad deals just so her buddies could get good deals. Our City can't afford another term of a her. A vote for Loar is a vote for dodgy campaign contributions a la Bryce Harris, fiscal irresponsibility, and a retread. Four More of Loar? Hell to the No!

You're painting with a broad brush 1:05, and you don't know the candidate. I do, and Hodges will not be carrying the mayor's water. That doesn't mean they don't share common ground, but if you think Hodges is the mayor's lackey, you are sorely mistaken.
ReplyDelete4:25, who is this Martin Vance? There is no record of him as a property owner in Clay or Platte County. He doesn't show up in Internet searches. Can you expand on this guy a bit?
