People need to understand that walking along 47th Street is pretty much taking your life into your own hands . . . No catcall ordinance could have prevented this critical injury but it's important to know that drivers commuting back to JoCo or headed to the East side don't really take pedestrians into account in Kansas City's premier entertainment district: Pedestrian seriously hurt after being struck by vehicle on Plaza

We shouldn't blame the victim but she was not the average pedestrian.
ReplyDeleteTKC QUESTION: DO VIOLENT FLASH MOBS CAUSE PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENTS???
ReplyDeleteflash mobs cause everything
ReplyDeleteThe problem on the Plaza nowadays is folks with no sense are ignoring crosswalks and simply walking out in the street wherever it pleases them. Like at bus stops.
ReplyDeleteAm amazed someone doesn't get hit daily.
Everywhere in the world except this stupid country, people walk wherever the fuck they want.
DeletePeople have rights. Cars don't.
Idiot. If she jumps on the hood of a moving car, she brought her injuries on herself.
ReplyDeleteHow is she a pedestrian? She was arguing, jumped on the hood of a car and didn't hang on tight. The bill from St. Luke's is going to hurt more unless she's not the bill paying type.

While we are talking about it - how about those idiot bike riders biking down brookside boulevard when there is a much safer trail?? Same with people walking on the road when there are sidewalks and trails.
ReplyDeleteBIKES ARE FOR SIDEWALKS YOU ASSHOLES
ReplyDeletePeople are just plain stupid anymore. I mean look at Glazer if you need more proof than that.
ReplyDeleteTony's Time Warp: where the present is scary and makes the spooky natives irrationally angry!
ReplyDeleteHurf Durf guy was right: you people are dumb as shit.
You're like an unintentional parody.
Still mad about that streetcar? Poor baby.
DeleteYou mean the one they are building right now? Or the one to Brookside/Waldo that's goin to pass 55%-45% next year?
ReplyDeleteHave fun living it up in your 1987 time-warp while the rest of the world passes you by and laughs.
This incident suggests that the plaza shopper demographic has moved in a decidedly downscale direction. Leawood girls do not get into brawls with men and jump on the hoods of their cars. It's just not done.
ReplyDeleteIt's a combination problem. Plaza pedestrians aren't as careful as they should be. Likewise there are drivers that whip down 47th Street like they're in a NASCAR race.
ReplyDeleteWith no lights in most of that stretch, few drivers actually remember that those on foot HAVE the right-of-way.
How about installing some STOP signs, lights, something. Saving one life would be worth it.
The city needs to write an ordinance declaring it a fine-able offense to run over someone in a crossing lane since we already have shitloads of laws covering the situation.
ReplyDeleteHow about we build a ten million dollar draw bridge from corner to corner so pedestrians won't be forced to look for oncoming vehicles before darting out in the street?
