FACT: KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA PROVES PERILOUS FOR PEDESTRIANS!!!

People need to understand that walking along 47th Street is pretty much taking your life into your own hands . . . No catcall ordinance could have prevented this critical injury but it's important to know that drivers commuting back to JoCo or headed to the East side don't really take pedestrians into account in Kansas City's premier entertainment district: Pedestrian seriously hurt after being struck by vehicle on Plaza

  4. The problem on the Plaza nowadays is folks with no sense are ignoring crosswalks and simply walking out in the street wherever it pleases them. Like at bus stops.
Am amazed someone doesn't get hit daily.

      People have rights. Cars don't.

  5. Idiot. If she jumps on the hood of a moving car, she brought her injuries on herself.

  6. How is she a pedestrian? She was arguing, jumped on the hood of a car and didn't hang on tight. The bill from St. Luke's is going to hurt more unless she's not the bill paying type.

Have fun living it up in your 1987 time-warp while the rest of the world passes you by and laughs.

  17. This incident suggests that the plaza shopper demographic has moved in a decidedly downscale direction. Leawood girls do not get into brawls with men and jump on the hoods of their cars. It's just not done.

  18. It's a combination problem. Plaza pedestrians aren't as careful as they should be. Likewise there are drivers that whip down 47th Street like they're in a NASCAR race.
With no lights in most of that stretch, few drivers actually remember that those on foot HAVE the right-of-way.
How about installing some STOP signs, lights, something. Saving one life would be worth it.

  19. The city needs to write an ordinance declaring it a fine-able offense to run over someone in a crossing lane since we already have shitloads of laws covering the situation.

How about we build a ten million dollar draw bridge from corner to corner so pedestrians won't be forced to look for oncoming vehicles before darting out in the street?
