Tragically, Kansas City baseball fanboys will delude themselves into the "we'll get'em next year" routine that has been powering ticket sales for pro-sports in Kansas City for more than a generation.
And by way of an uncritical and corporate powered media . . . Kansas City residents are ruled by empty promises and marketing in sports, politics, business and every other facet of life in this wicked little down.
The fun part is that rather than working on fixing Kansas City's constant mediocrity . . . There's only rage against the rare birds (like the TKC blog community) who can easily see through empty propaganda and lies.

so tony gets the last laugh..but
we were at 24 games this year
and had a blast.

ReplyDeleteI go for the enjoyment of the game. I really don't care whether they make it to the playoffs or world series, as long as they have a good season with close games. Now the playoffs or WS would be nice but not absolutely necessary for the Royals, an organization in the entertainment industry, to entertain fans. Baseball is a very hard game that great players make look easy and it only gets harder down the stretch. Only one team can win the whole thing every year and that's quite a feat since all teams have rosters made up of the best players in the world, some better than others. Tony thinks he's such a sport expert because he guessed the Royals wouldn't make the playoffs. What a blowhard. We all knew the chances were remote but aren't as cynical and small as he is. We stuck with the team. Hell, it's not that hard, I could have told you Houston, the Cubs, and Miami weren't going to make it, does that make me a sports expert? Of course not. Tony stick to politics and crime and leave sports to the true blue KC fans.
