Here's a reality check as we work our way to the weekend . . .
CURRENTLY, KANSAS CITY MURDER NUMBERS ARE HIGHER THAN THEY'VE BEEN IN ABOUT 4 YEARS!!!
This fact is worth noting with a bit of statistical proof . . .
We hate to make this point because it has been repeated before but given the current clearance rate the odds are more than 50/50 that a Kansas City killer will get away with murder.
Per capita and per thousand Kansas City is once of the most dangerous cities in the nation . . .
Earlier this year, here are some stats that captured our attention from the most recent FBI crime report Kansas City is home to:
- 23 murders per 100,000 people
- 53 forcible rapes per 100,000 people
- 355 robberies per 100,000 people
"Kansas City has roughly 1,400 sworn patrol officers and 3,000 identified gang members. Federal prosecutors are beginning to work more closely with local jurisdictions to tackle the threat to public safety."
Sadly, this fact has caused very little action or legislative attention from Mayor Sly and Council . . . Instead, the current agenda that dominates City Hall right now is almost completely focused on economic development near a Downtown entertainment district.
Be careful this weekend . . .
