The numbers fluctuate a bit but a 2007 study revealed that 1 in 4 of the nation's homeless are veterans.

Let's not forget that City Manager Troy Schulte championed a crackdown on Kansas City homeless and the people who try and help them.
And while Sunday is a nice day for charity, it's also important to remember that the homeless live in Kansas City's political context where they're yet again at the bottom of the food chain.

ReplyDeleteJohn Stuart fuckin Mill had an IQ of 165. Einstein is in the same range. Some homeless dude tellin you his WHOLE FAMILY has IQs in the 190s is, lemme think, oh yeah, he drinks too much.
Look, I'm a vet too, 1969 to 1973 and I get the PTSS deal. The kid who was molested and many of these folks have serious mental issues. But, in that group, is a bunch of guys who just like to get fucked up. Thats cool. I give 'em money, especially the guy at 95th and Holmes who has a sign that says, "Need money for beer".
Goddammnnn I luv that guy. I always tell him I will be pissed as hell if he blows it on food (I give him 5 bucks when I can, beer ain't cheap). Guy looks like Santa Clause, he tells me I got nothin to worry about, I should be as stress free as he is. Then the light changes.
I drive North, in my rear view mirror, I see him crossing the street to the gas station.
